I remember posting something similar to this back in 2014 when I first setup TMS.

I am FOREVER trying to help people who I see struggling or complaining about the lack of money they have on Facebook or Twitter or whatever or even reaching out to them via email!

So I explain that there is a whole world of online earning available to them and it doesn't all have to be 50p surveys and clicksites and it just such a mission to get them to believe that you can earn very decent money online without there being a catch or some kind?

Have Internet scams just ruined trust THAT much?
Are people just exposed to too many MLM type posts on Facebook to believe offering untold riches if they just bug their facebook friends to death and get them to buy cleaning products from them?

I just feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall. I remember one time i was showing a woman online how you can earn money by working for WhatUsersDo who are a well known company and they record your screen while you work for them reviewing websites and this woman went nuts at me and sent me a HUGE Rant via email saying I must think she's dumb as anything if I think she would install some screen recording software on her laptop!

I know once people join up to TMS and get exposed to the community here life is grand and people earn more than they ever through they could do but it's just trying to convince people but more often then I not struggle to convince them that they CAN CHANGE their current financial situation for the better and it doesn't need to be as bad as it is now if they would just listen to me!!

You don't have to live with next to no money, you CAN earn THOUSANDS from home but you need to at least be open to the fact that I know what I'm talking about!!!!

Rant over!!

It must be incredibly frustrating for you when you truly are trying to help people - and in your own time, for no personal gain at that!

It's a sad reflection on society that most people start out from a position of mistrust and suspicion.

Please don't stop what you're doing. There'll be some people out there who want to get out of a hole, who will listen with an open mind and you will continue to make a difference.

Noooooo, don't ever stop what you are doing on here, you probably help more people than you think. You can only point people in the right direction and help them if they want helping. If they won't help themselves then that's not your fault.

I have two answers to this, but I'm not sure many will agree with the second.

1) Yes, you're right. People are very worried about things being "too good to be true" or a "scam". Alarm bells will ring at the sound of anything that might be what they're actually looking for. We can see this worry in all walks of life though. People won't install apps from well known brands etc because they've been told that they're being spied on and all of their data will be stolen. I'm sure we've all got friends and family who have shared one of those Facebook posts that says something along the lines of "Facebook are changing settings. If you don't do this and that then all of your details will be stolen!". People simply don't trust things any more. Add money into the equation and it gets worse.

2) People don't actually want to earn the money. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I have a feeling that people actually enjoy being able to complain about their current situation. These are the people that will moan about things (that's fair enough), but when you talk to them about options out of the situation, they'll always have an excuse why it won't work. Sadly, you can only do so much for someone. TMS is a great source of moneymaking information, but if someone doesn't actually want to help themselves then yes, you are banging your head against a brick wall.

So how do you all find it when you tell people about how you earn and how much online?

Do people believe you are is it brushed off as 'not a real job' etc. ?

A few people think I'm talking shit about my earnings I'm sure, I don't mind though, I can wipe my tears with the £10,000s that I've made from multiple income streams in the last few years.

You help loads of people here, and shouldn't let ignorant people put you off. If they want to keep scrabbling around for pennies then sod them, better off just spending the time deleting their email instead of reading it, writing another great blog post and getting on.

I know from personal experience even if you post screenshots people STILL won't believe you're telling the truth.

I mean I can post a screenshot of my massive wins, or my £50k of premium bonds, but still people will think it is photoshop or some other rubbish. Screw them, push on and help those that want to work and make something of themselves.

must admit MLM drainers on facebook do exactly that to me DRAIN! they soon get unfollowed
I think people are a lot more cautious to the online world now, which is a good thing, but it is their own doing if they are missing out on cash, you can only educate what people choose to do with their education is up to them :)

I'm still quite new to all this so a lot of people don't know what I'm doing but so far the few I've chatted to about it have been very dismissive. Working online has got a bad reputation (yes the bombardment of scams) and working from home is apparently code for skiving off, so doing both doesn't make a good impression really. Fortunately as a mum of kids with 'invisible' additional needs I'm getting used to being judged by society in general lol (not funny really but you either laugh or cry!) so it's not going to stop me but I won't pretend it feels nice. I expect I'll care less if/when I start doing better out of it though! :)

When the boys in work laugh at me getting 10p from citizenme or 20p an the odd paid onepulse survey they laugh. Except for one man I work with got him signed up to things. Now after a week short of my first month logging things here and I've cleared over £110 with just a few minutes here and there. It's me laughing at them. Basically at my current rate I'm about £1.5k a year. Laugh at that now boys, it's all birthdays, Christmas and some sweet treats I have paid for by doing what we all do. If people can't see this then it's thier loss imho.

If I'm honest I was one of those sceptical people always a fan of the green site and Martin Lewis some of these hacks he's never mentioned but with so many money programmes on tv such as eat well for less and right on the money it has led to me researching and filtering through all the garbage to get here and I couldn't be happier. I actually feel like it's making sense now and I look forward to making some serious money now rather than moaning and living from wage to wage.

Sometimes its difficult to know where to start, but my first week of surveys must have earned me almost £50 so theres no way I can complain about that. Due to my son's care needs and age, I can't go out and get a regular job, so any ways of making extra money for me FROM HOME are so important. I bet there are many of us in similar situations and I am pleased to have found this forum.

Yes, I have too been ridiculed for making "only" 3 pounds doing a survey or selling an item for £1 profit - people just don't see the bigger picture. To be honest, I just don't tell others about my extra income anymore as I can't be bothered to explain myself!

I agree @Joraffe. I've resolved not to share what I'm doing outside of here. There are far too many negative people around.

IKWYM.

I try not to push any MoneySaving stuff on FB as people think it is all a con. All of it. Or that I'll be a Utilities Warehouse seller. The one UW guy I'm connected to posts nearly every day something like 'What would YOU do if I gave you £200 extra a month?' or "I can't believe people are working so hard to make sure their boss earns more than they do. I used to do that but now I've found out how to work hard so that I get paid more!". This grinds people down and can make them 'deal blind'.

The following is in ease of engagement for me;-

TopCashBack/Cashback sites - Easy to explain and easier to show. Doesn't require any bank info so people can sign up without feeling like their bank account is about to be raided.

Mystery Shopper Jobs/Apps - Another easy one to explain and talk about. The biggest problem with this is that you can show there are loads of jobs BUT....I never seem to actually get loads of jobs. I've not worked out how to improve this? Is it my demographics, my location, or am I using the wrong apps.

Survey Sites - Easy to explain, really hard to get people excited by it. I can show how to do it but survey sites can take an hour to make £2-4 (in my experience). You get so far through a survey then you are striked out. 15 minutes of answers then lost as you don't qualify. Rinse and repeat. People don't earn lots from the hours they need to be sat in front of a computer to do.

Matched Betting - Easy to explain, hard to understand. Easy to show big winnings, hard to motivate people to join it. They need Multiple bookie accounts? They need a 'float' to start with? they need to send proof of ID? Its not really betting? They don't need to understand the sport they bet on? They need to pay more to join a MB site?

Casino offers - Harder to explain the 'risk' aspect compared to MB. Vital to explain that MB and Casino offers are very different. Most people 'promoting' MB give out a joint figure for the income from both, but the 'big' wins most people share are Risky casino offers.

I think part of what made the 'other' place successful is it had a guy at the top who marketed himself as the Expert. That then got TV/Paper people interested in his opinion. Not only the media, but also the man on the street learnt to trust him. It all comes down to trust in the end. You have to build that up before people will want to do things that others tell them not to - join bookie websites, downloads apps to their phone or even recording software to their computer.

I've found that suggesting apps and getting people to download them to phones is easy, but computers are much harder. I think that it might be something to suggest to people as 'level 2' of survey/MS. Much like Casino offers aren't the thing you lead with when selling 'MB', recording software on a computer should only be part of phase two of survey/ms work.

Well, thats my thoughts on it, anyway.

I've said before what a great site this is.

In "Englishman in New York", Sting sings "It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile"

Over the past few weeks online money earning has cropped up in conversations I've had, shortly after the person finishes moaning about not having anything left at the end of the month sob sob. I've had the same reaction so I've told them to spend a month reducing their outgoings while I spend a month showing them what I can earn. I'm excluding MB because the people I'm refering to wouldn't be able to resist gambling. Over the past 4 or 5 years I've pointed loads of people at online money making and I'm used to being laughed at; I shrug my shoulders and leave it at that.

@Moneyless Man I see some truth in your second point. My thinking is that money doesn't solve money problems, a change in attitude does. There are scams but you rely on the great community here to avoid them.

@The Reverend I put IKWYM into Swagbucks because I can never remember those acronyms and got 11SB

On balance, Sting also sang De do do do, De da da da ...

and please substitute inteligent woman for "man"

Latest UW post from my facebook chum...

To be fair, as far as I can see, UW really isn't that bad. And he also isn't a hard-sell guy but you do recognise the techniques they use.
