@Jon never stop doing what you are doing here. I’m a newbie to TMS and before only knew of one mystery shopping site. I now have a whole phone screen of them. I came here to earn money just to survive the month and a Roamler code (fess up folks I’m not alone in that). I set my target on @katykicker s post of £200 and though jeez that will be tough.
Well..... not only have I hit it but exceeded it! Next month is match betting for me (scary but has to be tried if I want a big different).
So what did my £200 afford for me to do?
Cracked tooth of 6 months repaired at the dentist - PAID
4 year old contact lenses and sight test done!
Next month I start saving for that new car and paying of my £3k credit card bill.
It’s not just @Jon and @katykicker I want to thank but every member who posts what they earned where and replied to my posts and helped me. A thousand sloppy kisses to you guys for helping me start digging myself out of this hole xxx
Thanks so much for the tag. NOt been here much lately but really pleased to hear I can help motivate you. Your list of things to do sounds great! Nice Teeth and contact lenses is really important to your mental health too!

Sometimes its difficult to know where to start, but my first week of surveys must have earned me almost £50 so theres no way I can complain about that. Due to my son's care needs and age, I can't go out and get a regular job, so any ways of making extra money for me FROM HOME are so important. I bet there are many of us in similar situations and I am pleased to have found this forum.

Absolutely my son is just going thro the assessent which is a long rd and we decided to homeschool so I'm now at home full time and I want the ability to still feed and house my own family by myself. I really hope i can find the means to do that here. X

I must admit I have been thinking about this thread for a while, and I must admit I have not read every post - but I know that the people on here know their stuff!

This may or may not have been said, but there is nothing that really (REALLY) grinds my gears when someone pleads poverty when quite frankly they are lazy and would rather complain about their (supposed) current financial woes than actively attempt to fix them.

There is someone very close to me that always pleads poverty, and bearing in mind I am close enough to them to know their lifestyle and financial preferences: everything is on a budget (this does not bother me), but everything is on a budget because "it has to be/I cannot afford anything more/ I have so little money." etc etc. Guess what - he is a self employed gas engineer and turns down A LOT of work, and I'm thinking to myself: if you were so short of money surely you would run at any opportunity going? As this person is a big advocate of "it's nice to have a little money".

This was classic the other day: a man offered him £250 a day (three day's worth of work) and apparently that's s*** money, and he can earn that kind of money in a few hours, and of course there's me eyes wide open, in my cashier job thinking: "wow, that's great money", while he did admit that even though he could earn that kind of money in a very short amount of time, that work is few and far between I.E. the classic crux of self-employment.

I told him about Leapforce, because as we can all agree that that is a good little gig to get into!! I currently have two phones (I am trading my iPhone in for a Samsung Galaxy S9) and I must admit I can stress about doing it when we're out, as I do procrastinate, and I told him how much you can potentially earn if you were to do it everyday, but did say that it does stress me out because I am normally thinking about doing it at some point during the day but it is wholly worth it - but - but, nothing materialises because this person obviously doesn't need the money enough, or is not motivated massively from the aspect of extra earnings, which in turn would relax this person in the sense he didn't have to rely so much on the income from his self-employed earnings.

Maybe I am being callous, but even I am lazy but I still see the huge benefit in earning extra money online.

Just on that point. Circling in the circles I do online I see all day every day people complain online about having no money and their 1st solution is always to cut down / be more frugal / cancel their TV Licence etc.

Whenever I suggest they do xyz to get extra money in so they don't have to cut down on anything 9/10 i'm met with 'i tried online earning with surveys and didn't make anything' and then they just ignore what I say and go off to buy tesco value baked beans to live off for the rest of the week and then endlessly Instagram about their baked bean eating exploits..

Just baffles me...

I think for some people, they feel stuck in that mind set, and aren't self-aware enough to realise just that; it's just a mindset. I must admit that since joining money shed, I haven't made a penny, however, part of that is because I don't have the money to do matched betting (unemployed, agoraphobic, soon to be student), and maybe a dash of bad luck thrown in. But that doesn't mean I'm not soaking up the advice on this site, and it doesn't mean I don't want to hear how I can change my circumstances.

Some people are closed off from learning; they leave school at 16, 18, 21 years old and it's like they refuse to receive any new information passed this point, whilst others are always going to be open to change and learning and improving their lives.

Yes, it's just difficult for me, because whatever I do has to be from my house, and have no initial outlay, so that rules out mystery shopping and matched betting, which are big earners for people!

okay try prolific . you can make some on there without any startup money.

Then when you get about £50 you can move onto Match betting.

shouldn't take long to do

I've been making a right effort on Instagram trying to help the ENDLESS amount of people I see put up images listing their debt of a few grand and then they explain how much they have made in the month via surveys / Swagbucks / scanning receipts and it amounts to around £40 a month or something and so I pitch in with blah blah blogging / web search evaluator work / bemyeye / roamler / Matched Betting / WhatUsersDo / uTest etc and it just seems to fall on doubt and deaf ears as I explain that they can make £500+ a month doing this and it will take a LOT less time than scrimping for 20p surveys

I'd say look at it the other way round. Most people who contact me about ways to make money are just scammers. I then ignore them.

Thats probably what is happening to you. Is there a way you could make it so more people come to you rather than you go to them?

I'm not thinking 'Hey babe! I've just had a space come up on my team? Be quick if you are interested friend me and we can talk. #bossbabe'

:D

I'm just not sure how best to do it. I think it would be drop the MB and blogging bits. MB always sounds like a scam/risk and blogging is a hard sell to some people as they don't understand the benefits. Lead with the WSE/WUD/uTest/etc as it is easy to understand.

Start with the best one of these.

Then introduce the others.

Then do free app earnings (Vypr)

Then do free app jobs (BME/etc)

Then have MB in the back-pocket for when they want something more.

Thats my thoughts (I've probably said similar on this thread before!) but I really think you've got to gain people's trust before you can throw MB in as a money making offering. And blogging? Thats the final icing on the cake when you talk about referrals and tings!

Yeah very good points
I do tend to lead with wse work or whatever but 9/10 they’ve never heard of appen or Lionbridge so that equally isn’t an easy sell!

I signed up for a few of these survey sites and to be honest so far they seem to be canny shite, with the exception of Prolific (where I've made about £16 in three weeks or so) - maybe I'm doing something wrong there. Also I applied to Appen and haven't heard anything back which is kind of crap. But I do think everyone's just wary of the whole #bossbabe MLM shit (rightly so), which doesn't help!

@Jon I think some people are plain lazy and in a weird way just like to whinge. Since I joined I have made a fair amount of money and it has changed my perseption of money making. It is not easy but the internet has made it easier. Matched betting has shown me this. I started off doing all the survery sites but have now narrowed it the ones that make me the most for minimum time. I also have been more proactive about selling my skills and that has made me a fair bit the last few months, whoever thought that someone would pay for some just to go to horse competitions with them?! This offers me money and also a learning experience. I am really enjoying things and have had a huge amount of set backs since but I don't worry as I can see a way out of it all now.

Can I ask what some of the initials stand for please? I know MLM (and stay away from) and MB but am not sure on some I've read above.

WSE/WUD/uTest

BME - free job app.

Is there somewhere where I can figure this stuff out for myself without wandering Google too much?

Thanks
