On Sunday I lost over £250 thanks to Bet Bright.

On Saturday I did their half refund offer with new sign ups. Instead of doing the £100 I bet £80, lost the bet and was granted my £40 free bet. On Sunday I went to place said free bet. I used oddsmonkey, found a great offer and started the process of placing my bets at the same time on Smarkets and Bet Bright only for my free bet to be denied after my Smarkets bet had been fully matched. Bet Bright has no live chat and despite frantically emailing them all I got in reply was an email saying they'd made the decision to restrict my account from using offers... Then my bet on Smarkets lost and all that cash I'd made over the last 6 weeks was gone.. I'm down to £120 with all my refund and free bet sign up offers gone.

I'm completely heartbroken. I have a holiday to Disneyland Paris booked at the end of the month and this was my spending money to break up until we go to Florida in May. I also have no idea how I'm going to earn back a decent pot without those easy offers...

I have a few options;

- Give up. This is how I feel right now. I know to some people £250 is nothing but as a single parent that's a lot of money.
- Attempt the Roll Over & Multi Step Offers even with so little in the pot
- Try and attempt to understand current offers... although everytime I do this I just end up stressed and in tears.

This is the worst week ever, my washer is on it's last legs too and my parents are about to go on holiday. I've been awake since 2am stressed and feeling sick over everything.

I've had similar things like that happen to me, not £250+ though, that would hurt anybody. Did you place the Bookie bet first and see it accepted, then place the bet on Smarkets, only to then have it denied at the bookie? I've never experienced a bookie refuse after they have accepted.

I wouldn't give up - I've thought of doing that at times but I'm glad I didn't as I bounced back; it would be harder with £120 in funds though. That said, I certainly would not do any other offers until you are confident in what you are doing.

Mindful that what I am saying doesn't solve your problem, maybe others on here can help further.

@MuckleMaker that's exactly what happened. It went through then bounced back and I was like WTF? And by that point it was too late as I'd quickly popped over to Smarkets to place my bet to keep the odds. I've since googled and seen bad reviews of Bet Bright not wanting to pay out so I guess they put a stop to me before I had the chance to place my free bet.

I think I'm going to take some time to read about the sign up offers I have left on OddsMonkey but my confidence is completely shaken. I don't even want to attept the casino stuff or try and figure out what to do next. I'm going to do any free bets or refund offers that come into my inbox, Ladbrooks and William Hill seem to do free £10 bets weekly but I honestly feel sick at the thought of what else to do. I'm complete crushed as I was just getting my confidence up.

Hi Amy,

It reads like you still have plenty to learn about MB. With the right spreadsheet/tools you could have placed a bet somewhere to mitigate your lay at Smarkets. I'd suggest slowing down and work through the beginners offers first before going on any of the advance. Are you a member of one of the MB subscriptions? I found PA quite good for a newbie and you can take things at your time.

You can do MB with £50 (or less) so start again with that but take your time and ask loads of questions.

I've also been gubbed at betbright but luckily I lost there and won at the exchange so it was a small loss.

Make sure you stick to MB and avoid any risk based casino offers.

Have you looked at the other money making offers suggested on here like surveys and mystery shopper tasks.

Don't give up and don't punish yourself.

@The Reverend If I'd won at the exchange I would have been okay and just come to report here what I found. It clearly isn't a one off thing!

I'm a member of Oddsmonkey but I may switch over to PA and see if I fare any better there. I have still got double what I started with (I started with £60, still left with £120) I just feel so wary now and I'm worried that all the easy start up offers are gone and I'm left with multi step offers and roll overs which seem on first look more difficult and require more money. I want to keep learning but I feel so shaken by loosing so much (especially when it wasn't really a stupid mistake on my behalf, that I could have lived with!)

I've signed up for My Survey this morning (since i've been awake since 2am worrying) and I have a few of those task apps on my phone (but I sadly live in a small town which isn't great for them!) But I'll have a look into mystery shoppers.

Sorry to hear this Amy. It can happen but its very rare for bookies to rescind a free bet after its been granted and sitting in your account. They usually honour it then gub you from future offers. That was very harsh of Bet Bright.

In an emergency situation like this you really only have two options. Take the gamble and hope your layed bet losses or mitigate your losses by placing a back bet for the same amount. It's even possible to profit from the situation if the odds move up before the race starts. Worth remembering for future.

Don't give up. There is an easy offer for the 1.50 at goodwood from Sky bet (if you are signed up with them) Just ease yourself back in with a £10 bet if you don't want to do the full £20.

This - with bells on

Start slow and steady. Over time you'll build confidence and you'll understand more. Also, unless you are making 'in-play' bets, all mistakes can be 'fixed' (usually with a cost but always less than just letting the unmatched bet/lay run).

Do the smaller offers at Oddsmonkey or PA and complete ALL the beginners stuff before you move on to more complicated things. I seem to remember that PA had a video for fixing issues where you have layed but need to change your bet. Stuff like that is really useful to a beginner.

@homie the worst part is the bet is still sitting in my account but I can't use it. I've tried to multiple times but it just says that I can't So harsh.

It already lost so I lost the £250. Like everyone has said above maybe if I was more experienced I could have fixed it.

I got the email about the 1.50 with Sky Bet and I was considering trying it at least I know where I stand with the free bet offers and I'm considering giving PA ago to see if there are any beginning stuff I've missed. I feel a bit better now I've shared my story.

PA have an offer for 1 week's access for £1 - give it a go and see how it feels :)

That is really awful of Betbright to do that!
A bookie should honour a bet once it has been placed.
They are well known to gub really quickly.
Just stick with the easy beginner offers and reloads that don't require much and avoid any rollover/wagering type sign ups or offers until you have built up your confidence and bankroll up again.
Just take it slow and steady.
Profit Accumulator are worth using especially as a newbie as their instructions are so clear so really good for beginners.

Always place the back bet first and await confirmation before you place the lay, I personally check open bets just to be sure...thats the only way to avoid costly mistakes like that
I suggest you join PA as there is always some one there to help minimise losses as long as you tag administrators or moderators for urgent reply
Use this as a learning experience, shake it off and move on...you will soon make it back.
Betbright gubbed me before i placed a bet..always gub happy.

Betbright gubbed me too, despite mugging, but I've never heard of a bookie doing it in this manner.

Sounds like you've already had some good advice. I'd definitely suggest giving PA a look, as I don't know about OM but I know PA have been really helpful with me an the forum is usually full of people. There is a link in my signature I think for a 7 day trial for £1.

Don't beat yourself up about not being more experienced and losing the money, it is done now, like you see at least you have more than you did. Also, I agree with the advice here about starting slow and building up now while you try and reclaim the money.
