Firstly, apologies to those who enjoy book keeping...

I run a business and fully understand the importance of getting the boring stuff right. Without knowing your numbers you wont be able to run a successful business for long. Whether you're just starting out, or you have been in business for some time - ask your boring number questions here.

I keep seeing or hearing TaxDigital ads.....as a paper and pen girl I'm not looking forward to this. I think we can put it off till the 2024 - 2025 tax year, is that right? :)

Hi all, I'm looking to set up business in the near future but have no experience or knowledge in the accounting/financial areas. Could anyone point me into a decent beginner free (or cheap! haha) course that could explain this to me please?

p.s. please don't recommend me to google search it as there are literally thousands upon thousands of courses hahahaha

Thanks!

Keep an eye on Udemy - link to UK accountancy courses here

The secret with Udemy is, if you see a top-rated course for something like £40/£50 - keep checking every day and you'll probably soon see the course 'on a special offer' at something like £13. That's the time to buy ;)

Awesome thanks for that. I have previously used Udemy but never thought about it for this - I originally googled Financial free courses and it kept taking me to Yale and Harvard university haha!

I can't help thinking that when you are starting out you might be better finding a bookkeeper or accountant to help you set things up. A local bookkeeper may advise/help set you up for an hour (say £20 - £30?) in the hope that you use them again in the future.....
