These sites are getting mentioned more and more - both as a way to earn money online with your skills and as a way to find talent and pay others.

What are peoples experiences with these sites

Fiverr - Nice site, has the most available offers for sure. It is only let down it's inability to filter per country so I can weed out anyone that isn't UK based which is generally want I want from sites like this. Other thing worth mentioning is that you sometimes find that the gigs are really being priced at 10 dollars instead of 5, they sort of list a 'light' version of 5 and a proper big boy one at 10.. Just noticed that quite a bit in the last few months.

FiveSquid - Nice site, all UK based, not as much content and effectively if you were buying it would cost you most than at fiverr. I have found the content to be so so but that might just be who I chose. A while ago I spent £5 on a gig which was a tweet to nearly 1m people from a UK account. Checked the account, everything stacked up, they did the tweet, had zero impact. Total splatter gun approach do be warned, if you are buying a skill or talent, make sure you can actually measure the result.

People Per Hour - It was only recently that this site has changed to look like the other ones and prices seem ALL over the place. People seem to be offering the same as on Fiverr/fivesquid but for a lot more - so people will expect the content to be a lot better I guess.

Just my experiences so far with the site.

My one tip I would say is never be afraid of searching with the 'new' filter turned on. Just because people don't have feedback does not mean they won't provide excellent content and you can then reward them by re-booking their skills..

I have never used FiveSquid myself, but I have used the other two.

I have to say the better one of the two is People Per Hour, due to it being UK based. I feel it is also a bit more professional that Fiverr. There are a lot more business orientated jobs posted on PPH.

Just wanted to add something as well in regards to the quality of the gigs sometimes.

It is all well and good offering a million backlinks for £5 but unless those backlinks are well respected by Google it is just money down the drain surely

I can only comment on Fiverr, as I've been an active seller in there for three years, completed approximately 4000 orders and have TRS status. There are good gigs on the site, it's just a case of looking at the feedback and reputation of the seller and asking the question before ordering. There are also a few people who come and go and offer crap, but they've no interest in the site or their own reputation.

Its actually worse than that Jon
Google after the last update and to a certain extent the update before are on the look out for this sort of manipulation and if there algorithm see's a huge rise in site backlinks and on sites that have nothing to do with your site content they will and so penalise you for this.

It is fine to have say 15 links coming from high ranking websites with nothing to do with your type of site its the 1000's that get picked up by google.

It is best to go for a few quality back links that match your content rather than thousands.

But back to topic, im going to try out Fivesquid, and People per Hour, as to be honest I have never heard of them.

Thanks
Mark

I thought that was going to be the case - Again it's up there with the zillion 'get rich quick' schemes I see listed on Facebook groups to do with earning money from mum. It is terrifying how many Mums (although probably fake Mums) post on there offering me a slice of £25k if I just sign up 5 people to their pyramid scheme.

I figured if every 'gig' site was offering the same sort of 'get to the top of google quick' gigs it would work out to be a negative in the end.

I have to say personally I like the options on fiverr for having more expensive versions of the gig. I have been thinking myself if there is anything I can offer over fiverr, but haven't yet thought of a skill people would pay for! But if I did, I would appreciate having the option of charging more than a fiverr to deliver the gig quicker, or provide a bigger/better service. :)

Just my opinion! x

Yes the options on fiverr for extra's are good however you dont automaticaly have access to them, there are levels on fiverr and to get to the stage where you can add on extras you need to be level 1, and to get there you must have been on there for at least 30 days and have sold 10 gigs in that time (Im unsure if those 10 gigs have to be the same or a mixture of your gigs adding up to the 10)

Once you get to this stage im pretty sure there is money to be made online from them.

The gig extras is a cool feature, but I don't personally use them. You have to build up an order count and feedback score before you can get access to this facility, but once you get your feet off the ground and become more established the orders start landing.

They can be a mixture, so long as they come from the one username. I still think that, this is the best site for micro jobs and as a freelancer, you can build up a good reputation by providing a good service and with that, money in the bank.

That's good news then and I may just make the mark up on my first month on there, I have just started doing "Video into's" which is not just fun but also very rewarding when they are finished, Im actually in the process of making one for this site, I came across a project and thought it matched this site perfectly, it's a shame this site dosn't have the Youtube mod installed other wise I would have shown you.

Well while I like fiverr because of it's price man oh man have I discovered a little scam going on there.

It seem people list themselves as being 'UK based' (so if you search you see they are from the United Kingdom) to get client trust.

I wanted someone UK based for the content I need doing and I ended up getting broken Engrish from a guy in Vietnam!!!

So keep your eyes open people!

I also didn't like FiveSquid. I experienced a similar scam to you. Someone promised to tweet a link to his 300,000 followers, but after he linked me his account, I found out that 80% of his followers were fake.

I have just started using Fiverr, as someone with pretty much only office skills I knew the competition was high, but I put my gigs on there anyway. Within a few hours I had my first message, and a day later my first gig!
I realise I am working for pennies but I had been looking for easy ways to earn money online whilst working from home.
I haven't heard of fivesquid so I might have to check them out. I came across peopleperhour whilst actually trying to recruit freelance sales people for my current job, I noticed some people were charging £20 per hour and more! I know I am good at what I do, and I am definitely selling myself short on fiverr but not sure I have the balls to advertise my skills at that sort of price, even though when in a 'normal' job that is what I am earning! It's funny, I think when trying to earn money online we often don't realise how much time it is taking us for the reward, I think a lot of the time we are getting bumped! But still, look after the pennies...

Oh, and it's good to know about how to get the extras on fiverr, I thought it was just me! Will have to wait til I've had a few more orders I guess.

Hi Beth

All I can stay to you is stay at it. We have people on The Money Shed who sell automated 'services' (SEO) on fiverr and who have very VERY good feedback so are making a lot of sales.

If you could automate what you offer in some way then that is very good as fiverr is a very good platform to offer your services on just because of how exposed it is.

PPH just looks like a confusing mess of prices to me as a customer at the moment which is a shame as before it went after the 'gigs' it was nothing like that

That is a really good idea, I might have to try and find something I can automate! lol
I would love to know how to do all that SEO and affiliate stuff, I have known people for a long time who earn good money from that. Looking at a few posts on here though it looks like quite a bit of work sometimes? Writing blogs and all that, not sure that's my cup of tea!

I would suggest, after reading some of your posts, and what you have or have been doing work wise, that you would be more than equal to the demands of a little SEO work, it really isn't that hard to pick up, and all pretty much common sense really, and there are plenty of tools out there to help you.

Cheers

There are good tools out there for automating the SEO process including Magic Submitter, but I always think the manual process is better for the long term. You want to be passionate about what you're doing and that will come across to people who find what you have on offer.

Best of Luck.
