Hi, I'd like to share with you one of the best financial investments I have ever made.
Check out Foresters Financial who are a Mutual Savings Society. Not to be confused with Forester Friendly Society. Historically they are both linked, but now are separate. I was introduced to them a few years ago when they gave a grant to help my allotment group out with a free grant to improve the allotment and bought up some vital equipment. Their ethical ethos is that they invest money for the benefit of the community and members. They do not advertise, so many people have never heard of them. Their HQ is in Canada, and only have members in Canada, USA and UK. They recruit members through doing community projects where members organise volunteer days to help their local communities, or chosen charities. In return for being a member, you can then access their member benefits which include annually great family paid days out, or things to do with the kids. I have been to the Cinema to watch big films which has saved me about £60, with refreshments included, I have had family tickets to Pantomines, again savings of £60 or more, Family tickets to Diggerland, Free tickets to take my son and his friends to laser quest. I know they did an all paid trip for members to Alton Towers a few years ago.
Members benefits also include being able to apply for an educational grant for your children or grandchildren where they receive money for every year they are in higher or further education. I plan to take up this benefit for my kids. I have just been awarded a £250 grant to help out tenants at the allotment during this Covid crisis.
Not only do I think it is a great society to save with because of it's ethical ethos in helping communities, they reward members with some fantastic days out to say thank you to it's members just for being a member! Every year, a member can apply for something like up to 3 grants for a community project up to the value of £2000!!!, I got one last year for my allotment group for £1300!! I also took part in a members event to paint pots in a Paint Pot cafe for the RSPCA , and do some wood craft for a local hospice. All refreshments are paid for on the day. I opened a savings investment for £100, but I think you can open an investment for as little as £20?!, you will have to check out their website.
