I've been with giffgaff for just over year now and have found them excellent. I pay £10 per month for a 'goodybag' that gives me 500 minutes of calls, unlimited texts and 1gb of internet as well as free calls and texts to other giffgaff users.

They do have several options for 'goodybags' from £5 to £20 per month.

If anyone would like a free sim you can click my link below and get £5 free credit (I also get 500 payback points - you can also earn these just by using their forum! You can choose to take your 'payback' as phone credit, cash or donate it to charity)

I used to have a contract with vodafone which was £35 per month so in a year I have saved £300! ;D

That really is a great bargain there. I pay £24 a month for my phone, with only 1GB of internet, so that is a very tempting offer!

Considering I pay almost £50 a month for my phone for the same amount, that is a real bargain! Shame im tied down for a while now.

I'm on giffgaff, on the £10 per month package. I get 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 1gb data. Also earn payback at £10-20 per month so they are practically paying me to use their network :)

Right, can you explain to me how long it takes you to earn that £10-£20 a month via the giffgaff forums and how much effort you have to put in. Do you get 'credit' if other people find your posts helpful?

To. E honest no one seems to know how it works, the forum is full of people who are asking about it but its a bit of a mystery! All I know is that I try and log in most days and make a few posts a week and like some posts. On the 6th of the month they update your payback amount and they pay out twice a year. You need to have an active giffgaff sim to get payback. Sometimes I'm logged in for a minute or so and sometimes half hour, depending on if there is something interesting to read!

Ok so on average over the month, how many posts would you say you make and how many do you like ?
And im guessing you just log on once per day and do what you have to then log off and start the process again the following day etc etc

Sorry for all the questions, but I dont understand how this company can be sustainable if they are righting everyone's bills of ever month for just a few posts in a forum..It just dosn't make financial sense to me from the companies point of view.

Not sure how many I post a day but just looked at my total posts - currently 357, dividing that by 15 months and that's 23.8 times a month (sounds about right as sometimes I post a couple of things and then not post for a few days and then do a few more, I try and remember to post every day but often forget!)

As far as I know giffgaff don't pay to advertise, they have no shops and have small amount of staff so their costs are low compared to other networks. Also everyone won't be taking advantage of using the forums for extra cash. 2 of my sisters are on giffgaff and don't use the forum. my parents are talking about coming over to giffgaff but I very much doubt they will use the forum (well my Dad may as he is a money saver!)

Contract phones are never worth the money. I have had 2 pay as you go sims recently. I first used Lebara, which are great for international calls, the deal was £7.99 a month with unlimited texts, 500mb data and 150 minutes of calls to any landline or mobile in the UK. But I felt I did not make the most of that so I moved over to3pay. No need to buy a bundle or anything. When you top up you get 150mb of data, calls to any landline or mobile cost 3p per minute, texts cost 3p and data costs 1p per mb a tenner can last you a long time, unless you make loads of calls. The Giggaff deal is good though, it all depends on what you use your phone for most.

I totally agree with you. contracts aren't worth it anymore, they just can't compete with the savings from a payg sim.

What sets giffgaff apart from the rest is the chance to earn 'payback' from using their forum. I regularly earn £20 per month in payback and I only pay £10 per month for the goody bag I use.

Well today I purchases my first 4G goodybag from Giffgaff

Their prices for 4G are silly

£10 a month

I pay £12 a month with giffgaff for 3G at the moment

Shall see how it goes when out and about and if it improves things like the usual Field Agent / Roamler app performance.

You just log on to the forum and post a few posts and give some kudos and hopefully get kudos too. My sister got around 1.80 for visiting the forum twice and posting once! The more you post the more you can earn, up to £30 a month (Its quite hard to get up to £30, I've not managed it yet but mostly get £20)

You get it updated every month around the 5th and it gets paid twice a year. You can get paid to paypal or take it as credit.

GiffGaff are great, however I switched to Three once they changed their tethering rules and Three had no additional charges in various countries.

I was quite active on the GiffGaff forums, and tried to help out where I could. I didn't make money, however I don't think I actually paid for a phone bill for over a year!

I've been on GiffGaff for ages and didn't know about getting money back from the forum, thanks!

I just had a quick look on there now and noticed that they are looking for some employees to work from home. Looks full time from the brief read I gave it.

I wonder how much work is actually involved though. I can't imagine it's too strenuous answering questions from home.

Sounds perfect for a stay at home parent who wants to top up the household income!

It depends how instantly available you have to be I imagine. No good if you can't do the school run for example, if you are a stay at home parent.
I have been meaning to get a giffgaff sim for ages on a 'spare' phone so this has just prompted me to do it. If all is well I may well switch when my contract is up.
