So the high court has today ruled that Gig economy workers at the likes of Uber / Deliveroo etc are actually employees instead of self employed - So they qualify for sickpay / holiday etc.

They are going to draw a line somewhere as doing work for Roamler, Shepper, BeMyEye, BeeLibery etc is all 'gig economy' work and I doubt people doing it want to be 'employed'!

Can you imagine task appers gathering by the water fountain in town, gossiping and trying to wind the clock down lol

Being employed is generally the last thing self employed people want!

I don't see this as a bad thing. And I personally wouldn't mind some of the benefits like some paid leave or a contribution to my pension. A lot of people that do gig work aren't self-employed in that nice 'I have control of my time way', many are working like it's a full-time job but with no protection or benefits or guarantee of work.

I'd be more than happy if the work was guaranteed and secure. It never is online, though.
