I have used 2 different premium theme providers:
1. Elegant Themes
I started out buying the Elegant Themes package.
It used to cost $39 per year for unlimited to access to all 87 themes.
However, the price has now gone up to $69 per year.
You don't have to renew your subscription each year to continue to use the themes, but you would lose the right to receive updates and support.
I suppose that this is the problem with the "yearly renewal" model - they can just hike the price whenever they week like it.
I still have KSF and iOS on one of their themes and they are quite nice - but I think that some of the themes are a bit too frilly-looking for my taste.

Studiopress
I now use the Studiopress Metro Theme on my ERT and IBFP sites - it is just one of many very nice looking themes that they make.
I love the clean and modern look of the themes and they are a joy to work with.
The first time you buy a theme from Studiopress, it will cost you about $99.
This includes the Genesis Framework needed to run the themes and it is a ONE-OFF PAYMENT - this is the bit that I particularly like.
The Metro theme is now bought and paid for and I get lifetime support and upgrades for $99.
It's all very well having access to 87 themes, but if you only like 2 of them or only have 1 site, what's the point?
If I want to buy another Studiopress theme it will not cost me $99 (because I have already bought the Genesis Framework).
Instead, any new Studiopress theme will cost me just $33.71 (under £20).
