Got a little bit of spare cash that I wanted to use to advertise my Blog

Tried Facebook ads but they rejected my ad as they say The Money Shed is to do with MLM and they won't run it (all I wanted were more likes to the Facebook page!)

So today I have setup a campaign with Google Adwords and so far

Clicks 4

Served Cost GBP £3.78
£3.78 for 4 clicks!!!

Is this the going rate for Google or am I missing something!!

It is expensive. Tried it myself years ago when I had a website and had hoped to get sales but got nothing and thought never again. :)

I will let the campaign run its course as it is a good way for me to see if something works or not but man alive.

I dread to think how much money people sink into this as an advertising method when they first start out. Those 4 clicks I have paid for, well who knows what happened to them

No wonder Google is rolling in it

That's ridiculous.

You would be better off writing more posts on your tms blog targeting low competition keywords to get organic traffic to the forum than paying money for a couple of clicks.

I would also suggest a little research to find out if there were any other legitimate techniques to improve a forum's ranking in search engines. Perhaps you could write a few SEO-friendly sticky posts for each type of online money making method?

I am happy to put a banner on freeswagsites for you - not huge traffic but every little helps.

If you search for roamler field agent 63336 etc. We do come up in searches but I will follow your advice and look into how to make forums seo friends. Obviously it is possible as the green site does it

Would be interested in seeing you load up an Adwords account with £10 and see why it brings in for your sort of content

Maybe time for me to invest a bit of cash

Although I am slightly worried about changing the URLs of threads and posts yet again, we've only just recovered from the last time I did that lol

Not sure about this product? I wouldn't get your cheque book out too quickly - not entirely sure what they are selling. Lots of their marketing is just fluff.

Google adwords can be very expensive - it depends what key words you are going after.

I've seen some keywords go for £20+ per click alone. Yikes!

Sometimes it's better to refine and drill down on what you are paying for. Highly sought after phrases are expensive and you are constantly in competition with the 'big boys with big budgets'. Unfortunately, those are also open to abuse in false clicks to expire budgets :'(

Maybe some more 'long tail' phrases with much lower search volumes will drive a more focused reader through to your site. Numbers will be lower, but chances of conversion higher.

Additionally, consider where they are landing. Is it a website home page - or have you designed a landing page that specifically 'talks' to that Google visitor? Make sure that what the visitor sees immediately upon landing corresponds to EXACTLY what they were searching for.
