If anyone is planning a day out with a group of people, I would suggest using groupon.

It has saved me a quite a bit of money, especially as I have a fairly social life.

Ah I had completely forgotten about Groupon

They are very good at saving us money, I have in the past been to the cinema, paintballing, and out for numerous meals using their service.

One of those unique sites that give you exactly what you want at great prices.

Thanks for the reminder Iamauser

Cheers
Mark

I use this site all the time. Always get the paintball offers when they come up

Man we have had some badddddddddd experiences with groupon and wowcher and all those.

Well to be fair, its not actually those services that are the problem is it the client at the end of it.

Days out cancelled as it's a 'too wet' - book high ropes, got there and they wouldn't let us it NOR re book as we booked via groupon

Cleaning company - just left us a note in the living room saying our cocker spaniel was barking too much and they couldn't clean. - if they had just let him out he would have been fine, it was only that he was trapped in the kitchen that he was barking as he couldn't see what was going on. No attempt made to contact me about it, just a note.

Steam cleaner bought from wowcher - the client actually discontinued the product and we had a hell of a time getting a refund from Wowcher.

Wow, sorry to hear that Jon.

I have never had any real problems with either of them. Sometimes things you order on Wowcher seems to take an eternity to arrive, but everything I have ordered has arrived.

I have found that groupon was really good at the start with some interesting offers, but in recent times the offers have gone down a bit. It would appear that they made a name for themselves and now trying to ride the wave for a bit.

I've never bought anything from Groupon as I've heard some bad things from friends, and Jon's post definitely makes me even less keen to give it a shot. Which is a pity, as some of the deals look really good.

Yes, I've only heard "not good" things about Groupon, even from my hairdresser that used them from the retailers side. Doesn't want to make me investigate further I'm afraid...

wow, that is quite a story

I had one for 5 lunches at a VERY high market deli in Leeds.

got massive doorstop bread or panini, fruit, crisps and drink (drinks were all special branded ones 'yorkshire Lemonade' etc, the sort that cost quite a bit)

Cost me £8 for 5 of these lunches which works out at £1.60 a day in total

Had queues going out the door when I went in at lunchtimes to get it, they can't have made a profit and I seriously doubt they got THAT much repeat custom after the people had used their vouchers
