Gumtree is full of this type of tripe

When you apply takes you to a 3rd party who recruit people to be door knockers for charities...

Need to find the treasure now...

Just been through 15 pages of 'work from home' job postings

the rest are direct selling / mlm

Probably a cesspit for the most part, although the Blurtit opportunity was a shining light in the bleak world of MLM entrapment.

I agree with Pheebs, to be honest I've only looked on there once and it all seemed pretty rubbish, but obviously some decent jobs do appear on there from time to time, as the Blurtit opportunity proved, and I would like to thank Caledonia1972 again for posting this, and of course Jon for starting the Money shed in the first place :)

I tend to look on Gumtree when I have exhausted all other ideas for the month, have no surveys to complete etc. 99% of it is useless, but I've found the occasional genuine opportunity on there, like Kings College looking for participants in a study. I certainly wouldn't recommend it as a starting point for anyone.

95% complete junk. If I search for "writer" I get pages of volunteer or unpaid opportunities, but there are some proper jobs too. Pity most of them aren't work at home.

I have picked up one good job on there which is doing rewrites for legal blogs. This lawyer guy has three blogs on the same subjects and hasn't time to write unique copy for each. So he writes one, and then passes it on to me to rewrite twice so that it's unique. Only pays 1.5p per word which is lower than what I usually get for writing unique copy, but it's easy work and part of my "never put all your eggs in one basket" strategy.

Have applied for a couple of other "jobs" writing on Gumtree, one was paying £1 per 500 word article so I told them to get knotted ;-)
