Nothing at Egg
Nothing at Nationwide

We're still waiting for Barcalys to get back to us as their 8 weeks is nearly up...

If anyone needs any help/advice about claiming, let me know. I might investigate this as a day job for one of the major players...

My Mum's claim has gone off to the ombudsman! They said the wait can be up to 2 years!! Anyone have any recent experience of this?

Partners Barclays claim has done the same now too, he's doing it through Resolver. Hope it doesn't take that long, but oh well. Money for nothing really

Got a response back from the Ombudsman. Apparently it's not a PPI claim but they advise he start a new claim for packaged bank accounts.

So gotta start looking into templates for that now

Interesting reading through this thread, thought I'd add my experience.
I had a letter from my bank, Lloyds, 3 years ago telling me I was due a PPI refund but I had to contact them to make a claim! Don't see why they couldn't just give me my refund if they knew I was eligible........
Anyway I made the call and fortunately they rang me back as after an hour or so on the phone that was my application submitted.
I am pleased to say it was time well spent as I received a cheque for nearly £2,000!!
Ever since then I have considered looking into any other possibilities I may have, after all nothing ventured nothing gained, but have nevr quite gotten round to it - that is until last Tuesday when I finally submitted 2 claims through Resolver, 1 to Egg & 1 to GE Money, as I had found all the documentation which I thought was required.
Now, having come across this thread, I shall be sending my DSAR to any finance companies, banks etc who I have had dealing with in the past and just wait for the result
Thank you to everyone but especially @Toni

Well Barclays haven't got back to us even though they said they would within 8 weeks so it's been pushed up the ladder now to the ombudsman

Good luck with the ombudsman...........
I have had a response from GE Money! They sent me a response in the post rather that reply through Resolve, but at least I got a reply.
Unfortunately they are only a Homelending company and have no affiliation withstore cards etc, so I had no claim with them. However, having come this far I decided no to take "NO" for an answer and called their customer services department.
I was helped by a very kind gentleman who advised me that I needed to approach GE Capital, who might I add he further informed me had been taken over by Santander.
I am now waiting to hear from Resolve as to whether or not they will just forward my claim to GE Capital or if I now need to make a fresh claim.

Barclays were absolutely rubbish with my son's packaged bank account claim. They rejected his claim twice and he had to go to the Ombudsman in the end - took weeks, not years.

Try and keep things concise and list all the important details/facts that you feel you have a strong case for and where you feel they have been in the wrong or not done things correctly.

It was a real battle but fortunately we got an adjudicator who agreed with our findings. It took months to deal with, and a LOT of research on my part and was quite frustrating to find that people who applied about two months later were getting results within days.

I did not use Resolver but people seem to get favourable results with it.

Good luck - don't let the b******s win!

After reading everyone's experiences here I've decided to submit my claim against nationwide for a loan I took out about 10 years ago. Nationwide have confirmed I had PPI on it and because I have a crazy good memory at times I can actually remember the phone call where I was wilfully missold ppi by nationwide. So I've given them a blow by blow account of how I was told that because there was talk in the national press of redundancies in the civil service at the time I wouldn't be able to get a loan at all unless I paid £17 in payment protection each month. Never mind the fact that reading the terms and conditions document I had showed that I wasn't covered for half the things the saleslady told me I would be at the point of sale! Fingers crossed it goes ok.

A family member of mine actually got £1300 back from PPI, but this was due to self assessment. I have noticed a lot of these companies are keen to get you claim fort PPI, but some of the commission is mental... 20% upwards sometimes.

I would be keen to know if you could do some of the searches they do yourself... Surely it must be similar to a credit check?

I contacted nationwide directly. Didn't go through any companies. And resolver is free :)

I start my PPI journey this evening. I will blog about it but I'm using the 'other' places' resolver tool. I will then be able to talk my parents through it over christmas. :)

Good luck! I'm using resolver for mine as well. All been very straightforward but I guess the crunch will come when they decide whether to pay me or not!
