I'm just about to start my PPI reclaim journey and I've found as many of my old accounts as I can but there are LOADS! I've had bank accounts/loans/credit cards/store cards/mortgages (joint ones with my ex, and one on my own) - you name it, I've had it. To get it all straight in my head I've started a spreadsheet listing the provider of each, along with any other info such as account numbers, dates, my address at the time etc. I've no idea whether or not I had PPI on any of these though.

What's the best way to play this? Should I write to each institution with these details asking if I've ever had PPI with them? Should I use the 'request for PPI info' letter that a previous poster wrote out? Should I go with The Claims Guys or Moneyback PPI (who only charge a 10% fee)? Or should I just use Revolver?

Just looking for a bit of guidance please, from those of you who've been through the process successfully. :)

all I did was go to the banks website and on there (9/10 times) they have a ppi claim form to fill in, I might of been lucky how easy it was though

Don’t they mind you doing that?
Not much they can really do.

If you don't sign the letter of authority when they write back to say you have got PPI with a bank or whatever they can't take any further action.

From their own website
When we tell you that we have located your PPI(s), we will send you further paperwork to complete to start the claims process. Once you return the paperwork, or confirm over the telephone that you wish us to proceed with your Claim(s), we will commence the claims process. Our Fee of 36%, inclusive of VAT, will be payable on all successful Claims^, as per the Terms of Engagement or, alternatively, you can complete the Claim(s) yourself.

Oh thanks for that. I’ll give it a shot.

Hi guys,I couldn't see if anyone responded to this with the same answer but consider doing your own PPI claim.

The claim guys and other companies take a ridiculous chunk of your money 25-33% on average. The forms are easy (they are basically the same forms they have sent you anyway). You can get a standard template letter to send to your bank's and claim the full amount directly (and quicker) without the claim guys... I saved £750 by going direct.. more cash in my pocket ;-)

has anyone made a claim for an account they held jointly with an ex?
the situation would be the person is not in contact with the ex and doesn't want to be, but a successful claim would mean so much, even it if was only half a payout...
I've head you can only claim jointly bust just wondered if anyone had any experience?

Do not use any claims companies they charge anything up to 49% commission

If you go by mad sute then resolver, all in the guide on there with everything u need...

I did try to claim back in 2007 when I used claims companies, git told no you’ve not been missold...

Them March 20@7 I got a letter from an old credit card they had relooked into my claim and found they were wrong.... £4.2k was mine...

Iv3 helped a friend out and between 6 accounts I got them nearly 10k back,

I've literally tried today seeing if I am owed PPI from a packed bank account from a few years ago. I was paying £13.50 a month for some Travel Plus account which I'm sure I don't really remember using! It was easy enough to get a letter template from the green site and just copy and paste. Hopefully I'll hear back soon but I'm hoping that by doing it myself I've cut out the commission people!

Turned out my sister has been paying PPI for years on her credit card. Suggested she reclaim it, and she's been going through the process directly with her bank, rather than using a claims company and losing part of any payout. Don't think it's been tricky, so fingers crossed her bank actually pays out!

I had a letter from the Halifax stating that there was another PPI that I can claim - Something to do with the amount of commission they took at the time. Halifax had previously refused to pay me and the Ombudsman ruled in their favour. Anyhow, in view of this new information I completed a fresh claim and this time the Halifax wrote back advising they had agreed to pay me £150. Pleased with that result. I am tempted to go back to re-visit the others - might use claims guys to get me the info.

A claim on a joint account can only be done with both parties’ consent.
