Hi Sparklymum,@sianib I've been looking at Cambly - do you need teaching experience in your opinion? I've not taught before but my husband is a teacher so he could help me set up and plan, and I have kids so know how to talk to younger ones etc.
The beauty of Cambly is that there is no expectation of experience or qualifications.
When you apply to Cambly you apply to adults and kids separately. The kids side pays a little more and is more competitive; some people are saying that they don't get in first try but keep going.
I think the most important thing is knowing how to talk to children. The plans are done for you and my regulars like that I don't talk silly to them like we have to for other companies. I think if you talk to them like a fun mum, you'll be fine. I teach mainly primary school kids but my background is secondary. I just treat the kids like I do my niece and nephew.
If you don't get in to the kids side, do give the adult side a go. I was really hestiant about this but I gave had some wonderful conversations and now gave a couple of adult regulars, despite saying I wouldn't.
Bit more information here on somebody's blog. My honest opinion is that the pay is pocket money but the students are wonderful.
