If there is just 2 of you (i'm just guessing there!) I would say any executive level accommodation would be good and snazzy enough for you.

Do you have a ball park figure for how much you are willing to spend

Personally I stay in lodges with saunas, we go for 3 bedroom usually - despite often only need 1 or 2 bedrooms. The Exclusive accommodation.

This is because the saunas (and hydrobaths) typically aren't available in the smaller accommodation. Plus, the price is usually similar to the lodges without the sauna and hydrobath so might as well upgrade get the extra bathrooms etc.

It is really reasonable providing you don't go out of season. Also, you can sometimes get bargains booking close to the time but I prefer to book far in advance and use the 'Come Back Soon' offer they give at the end of your holiday to get a refund if the price drops. Jon often books last minute, sometimes gets a bargain, sometimes doesn't, so it probably balances out really.

I've wrote a few posts on Centerparcs too if they help:

Also, I would pick Elveden or Longleat over Sherwood, just my personal preference. I'm going to Longleat in november I think.

Due to family health issues we arent taking a big holiday this year, so, am saving up all my Task Apps accounts and i also have a gallon bottle for change that i usually save up from one year till next... Last year i had £476 in it, this year i got motivated by the new £1 coin and the phasing out of old ones and also stuck all "old" £1 coins in (But have now been sticking new ones in too) to cash into my bank account on october 13 (Last day of old £1s being legal) Am expecting this time well over a grand, plus my current combined total (To date) in all my task apps accounts since last cashout is about £2600... So.... have decided to do a RTW (Round the world) trip, but, in true TMS fashion, we are going to do it using LOCO airlines where possible. I seen an article by a journalist who did a standard RTW routing using LOCO airlines... he did it on £1600... i thought... "I can beat that"! So, using the excellent-cannot rate highly enough SkyScanner and Kayak i set about looking, using current cheapest prices on any date this is what i have loosely come up with. Glasgow to Budapest (£18),Budapest to Dubai (£54) Dubai to Mumbai (£61) Mumbai to Chennai (£27) Chennai to Singapore (£24) Singapore to Hong Kong (£42) Hong Kong to Tokyo (£33) Tokyo to Manila (£91) Manila to Sydney (£106) Sydney to Honolulu (£193) Honolulu to Oakland (£143) Oakland to Los Angeles (£31) Los Angeles to Chicago (£37) Chicago to Boston (£37) Boston to Glasgow (via Toronto & Halifax) £118.. Total £1015 each!... That is just my preliminary route, which will get trimmed as we only can take 3 weeks off work so a few places will get binned, and prices (many not bookable yet) may slightly change.
As an aside for anyone who fancies a visit to Dubai, it is possible to do this for under £200 return, using Wizz Air... I priced up Glasgow to Bucharest £40 return, and Bucharest to Dubai £134... being VERY flexible on dates but do-able.

A RTW trip sounds ace.

May I suggest you check out www.holidaypirates.com as they often have some great deals for flights.

I also heartly recommend Thailand - I spent a couple of weeks there and loved it. there is so much to see but you might struggle to see all you want to there if you have a couple of days in each country.

Thanks... there is no way we could do it all in 3 weeks,it will get trimmed.... slightly...

Its very hard. I imagine that there is a delicate balance between visiting lots of places on your amazing trip and experiencing a country long enough to make it enjoyable.

It sounds like a fun exercise anyway, I will follow with great interest. :)

Thanks Pauleen.... what gets trimmed will be down to being able to tie up good prices and dates to suit (Prices on the site can vary wildly... for example on one day the fare from Budapest to Dubai is £54, the next day £478... so that will be a factor.. the definite stay ins are Glasgow to Dubai via either Budapest or Bucharest, and the flight back to Glasgow from Boston via Toronto and Halifax, in the middle have no option to get east from Oz except via Honolulu (£193 as opposed to cheapest flight to mainland USA from Oz at £450) Its a wee bit too early to book some flights, so it may be a "last minute" booking.

I've enjoyed going to Centreparcs, @katykicker we've had some good times there and there is always plenty to do and If that's where you like to go, that's where you like to go. No matter where we go through out the year we always at some point end up in Whitby and I wouldn't change it.

I had a week in Norfolk which was great as I went with my sisters and their family along with our parents. A big cottage in Neatishead was base from which we went to the surrounding areas - Cromer, Wroxham, Yarmouth, Blakeney, Hemsby. Would highly recommend it!

We love the Lake District. Keswick particularly.
Just been there recently staying in a nice self catering place just within Keswick itself. Timeshare Scandinavian type Lodges which are then rented out when the owners are not using them. It was really hot while we were there though but it was lovely to be away and to see the sun.
