How do you get your Blogs name out there? Or even promote blog posts that you've written?

Do you just rely on social media or newsletters? Maybe you do guest posts on other sites to try and bring traffic that way?

I know of some bloggers that spend a RIDICULOUS amount of money on Facebook ads to drive traffic and while it does bring it it's a heck of a cost!

I don't tend to spend that much truth be told. I pay for email / newsletter software and the ability to send Push notifications to those that have signed up but everything else I tend to do 'on the free'

But I've been wondering recently if to compete with other sites in your niche and get ahead do you actually have to spend money on advertising? You can have the best blog in the world full of amazing content but if no one knows it's there what's the point?!?!

Apart from sharing on social media, I don't really promote my blog. I'm lucky because I do it just because I enjoy it and don't need to make any kind of living.
I think I would put myself under a bit of pressure if I started chucking a lot of money at it.

I was going to do a newsletter, but even that seemed like too much hassle!

What was it about making / running a newsletter that you thought was a hassle?

Because I work full-time and I'm constantly running around after my kids, I struggle a little bit to get 1 post out per week so I didn't want to start an email newsletter.
That may change with time. I'm making over £100 from AdSense each month and quite close to Mediavine numbers. If that happens, I could drop a few hours at work and dedicate a bit more time to blogging.
On 2nd thoughts... rehoming my least favourite child could also be an option.

Good work on the Adsense revenue, I never got ANYWHERE near that amount each month when I used to use them lol

If time is a factor I would look at the various 'drag and drop' newsletter services out there which will save you a LOT of time!
