How do you unlock an Iphone 5?

Am looking to buy the eldest daughter a second hand iphone 5 for Christmas. Obviously most are locked to a network. How do you unlock? Do I need to take it somewhere and how much would it cost.

Where do you think the best place (ie best value) is to look for one?

Check eBay. There are some good deals on there and you can get an iphone 5 that is already unlocked. They are usually expensive to get unlocked so maybe worth looking at unlocked ones on eBay.

The network can unlock it, you should be able to ask the seller on ebay to get it unlocked for you before they send it to you however they would probably want a bit of money for doing that

Always get an Iphone Network unlocked.... A lot of shops offer unlocking by jailbreaking and using software... The only problem with that is when you update IOS you lose the unlock & can cause further issues....
