Having had some building work completed I had quite a lot of rubbish to get removed. I contacted a buddy who does house clearance and he quoted me £25, which I was happy with. There were a few other bits to be dumped including an old table with tapering legs. I kept these and sold them for...you guessed it...£25. There is also a slight twist to this story as the week before I had purchased 4 Dansette legs from the same chap for £2 and sold those as well for........£25!

Good thinking!

I need to find someone to do this for us as we've got some rubble and all sorts around the side of our house from when we had the conservatory built!!

Not sure I can sell any of it for money though as it's basically parts of brickwork and piping!

There are plenty of guys at boot sales with vans and they are always looking to make a few quid.

Its not having a van that's costly, its paying to dispose of it legally. That's why there's so much fly tipping in the UK.

If the council's weren't so strict with not being able to use vans, needing permits etc. I don't believe there would be half as much fly-tipping. I also think people should be allowed to buy things that are still in good use (just look at that Money for Nothing programme for example) as long as the 'dumpees' have no objection when they leave them.
The money raised could go to a different local charity each year for instance.

@Jon could you advertise it as free to collect rubble/hardcore on freecycle, facebook etc and if the pipework is separate that might sell on ebay etc either for scrap or some sort of craft work?

The guy I used was legal and has his name, phone number etc. all over the van. I got it a bit cheaper as I know him and the sale of the legs was just icing on the cake!

The story of a real entrepreneur. It was different for me, after I made repairs in my apartment, I accumulated a lot of construction waste, various bricks, boards, cement, etc. I found no better option than to contact a company that is engaged in recycling and garbage disposal. Environmentally friendly rubbish removal can I declare because instead of burying or throwing garbage in the landfill, it will simply recycle. I believe that after such an action I can safely be called an eco-activist.
