I'm really fed up with two aspects of my environment, well actually one is a tool. I'm fed up with office chair as it's way too low for me and for some reason drops a notch slowly while your in it. I get, hands, wrists, arms, shoulder, back, knees and leg ache because of it. The other is my PC which is steam powered lol. It seriously needs upgrading, it can't cope with too many tasks at once. It's frustating as I want to get on with some work, but often find I can't.

It's important to have a proper computer chair if you're planning on sitting on it for long periods. I invested in a good executive chair a couple of years back and what a difference it makes. Your PC/laptop is another area that should be addressed, as this is the main tool for your online work and making money, so having a reliable piece of equipment which operates quick and fast is essential.

As someone that has just spent a fair chunk of money getting a new laptop I could not agree with this advice more when it comes to helping to earn money online and the tools that you use.

Upgrading from my 6 year old POS laptop to this new one has improved things no end. One of the major differences between say home working and working for a company is if you have a crap computer you can complain and get it replaced, home workers tend to soldier on I imagine due to the cost of replacing it.

Since I have got this new laptop I am logged in and working within a matter of seconds, webpages respond 1000 times faster than before and nothing crashes like it used to. This makes me more productive and means that I can get a task/project/whatever done much quicker than before which makes me more effective.

It really can make a huge difference.

Very much so Jon, and if you don't have the right tools for the job then, how can you expect to perform well?

If you worked for a company and had an office type job then, you would want a good chair, desk, computer and storage area to carry out your daily tasks.

I usually have the tv or music on. I need some sort of background noise. I hate working in silence.

I usually put some soft background music on. Nothing too heavy, but just so there is a bit of noise.

Spotify is my music of choice - It has dynamic playlists available based on mood that change constantly so I usually just put on of those on, have discovered some great music via it

Rock music is what I like best, however, when I'm working from home a bit of Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig Van Beethoven goes down a real treat 8)

Same here. I prefer quiet apart from the ticking of the clock. :)

Unfortunately as I said, there's no money. I do mean no money, as in can't meet the rent no money. So a new computer, or even a new chair is not possible. I've asked a friend to keep an eye out on Freegle for me for a chair, but free is all I have money for.

Have you thought about selling things on eBay to maybe raise some cash? Everyone has stuff in the attic or garage..

Sorry to hear about your cash flow problems ...

It's not too much for me. I can work in any type of environment as long as I have my laptop and mouse with me to do my work.

I wish I could :-[ I have an 11 month old boy and the last thing I want is him wrapped around my feet while I'm working at the computer.
