Hi Guys,

Jon@themoneyshed gave me some very helpful advice when I joined here about declaring your extra income with HMRC and having the option of allowing them to take it out over 12 months via PAYE in your main job.

So far I've earnt an extra £100 (from sites like PA, surveys, Focus Groups etc) which I'm really chuffed about but wary because I want to make sure I'm doing everything legal and above board.

I've been clicking around on the HMRC site for ages and I've got no idea where to start....I'm finding it a complete minefield to be honest.

Is this the correct form I need to fill out?

Here is the form

https://online.hmrc.gov.uk/registration/individual

You are registering as a sole trader

You won't get to select to pay you tax via your PAYE job until you submit you first return next April

Alternatively just ring them and you can do it over the phone in a few minutes on 0300 200 3504
