When I started MBing I did so with the intention of building up a nice sum to surprise my husband with. To keep my secret, I’d been using any ‘extra’ I could squirrel away - earnings from surveys, Mystery Shopping etc. I only had a small amount and it would take a long time but hey, there was no rush, I’d still be able to surprise him. All was good and I dreamed of the day I would reveal my wealth lol.

However, since Christmas, we’ve had a number of additional bills and I’ve stepped in on several occasions to shore things up using my “mystery shopping money”. Needs must and all that. Well, my float had diminished right down again and I found myself being limited in the offers I could do whilst waiting on money moving back to my bank. It felt like I was right back at the beginning of my MBing journey

I had been really looking forward to my first Cheltenham and had already had a few emailed offers but had now (almost) resigned myself to not being able to participate at all this year. However, all is not lost . Not wanting to miss the opportunity, and figuring I’m doing this for all of our benefit, I decided to risk it and share my secret with husband and ask if I can move some money from elsewhere to ‘play’ with. (I’ll put it back after Cheltenham).

WooHoo! I’m back in the game. I’ll still need to be selective over which offers I can afford to do, but at least I’ll be able to do some. Bring it on!

I think they want to see the proof of concept themselves that matched betting works because it is just MATH

no amount of us posting on here saying YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE THOUSANDS RISK FREE is going to make them believe and they will forever think there is a “catch” until they see how it works for themselves

I don't have the biggest of pots to do Cheltenham with myself either, however I've done Cheltenham in the past with a small bank roll - you can still do tons of if you're good at juggling shared liability, though it does mean you might have to back and lay race by race and not everything in advance.

I expected to have to make my case but he just basically said you know what you’re doing, just do what you need to do. I’ve linked him to a few articles but he said he trusts me, he doesn’t need to read them.

Also remember that laying on the same race on different horses (at least on MB or Smarkets) means your total liability is only the largest liability. A £20 lay on a horse @ 5.0 when you already have a £20 @ 8.0 lay on that race will not reduce your balance at the exchange (this will be particularly useful on the first race considering how many offers are on it)
