......not in a "Please Miss, may I leave the room?" sense but I have received a summons for jury service. At 75 I am at the top of the age range but I'm going to ask to be excused. As I have restricted mobility and I'd be limited to shanks's pony and the bus and the first bus (of the two on weekdays - 0 on weekends) isn't until 10.24 it would be difficult to get there to time. It's not that I want to cop out of civic duty. I did jury service before when I was in my early 30s when I was working/living in London. I'm not registered disabled - to be honest that isn't something I've thought about. Well we'll see what happens.

If I were to do the duty it would be in July.

In my experience they are reasonable. I started a new job one day and literally got the jury summons the next day. I asked if I could defer the duty to a later date as I couldn't take two weeks away from my new job straight away as I was supposed to be doing training with other people who started at the same time and it would mess that up. They let me and 20 years later still haven't contacted me again. I had already done it once before that mind you, so maybe that helped.

Thanks to folk who have replied. I did it back in 1979 before many of you were born. I'll fill in the form and do a covering letter.

Edit born not worn.
