I just got kicked out of a store for doing an auditing task for Field Agent

I was partway through and the manager came over and said it was private property and I need permission and an authorisation letter to do it. I looked on the app and couldn’t find one.

He went to check with his superior on the phone and made me delete all the photos.

I still submitted the task and explained the situation.

Has anything like this happened to anybody else?

Still never been caught once.. Am guessing since it was FA it was in a really hard place to be incognito or you were having to video yourself? Try not make it obvious you are taking pics if a shop is really hard to be incognito try putting headphones in fone and talk as if on a call.. It looks natural.. In both cases you would hold phone in same way and you could set up the on headphones switch to be shutter release too... But yeah just take the hit... FYI no one can make you delete photos from your phone or any device... They can only ask you to leave

Thanks for the tips :)

It was a very small store, it was in a petrol station and each time I had to check a product, I checked in different places to see where it was as some stuff was in random places and I didn't want to miss anything

Hardly any of the products were in the shop, or even had labels

I was once caught. They wanted pictures of the till point displays. The manager came over and apologised and asked one of the assistants to tidy and restock the display. I was able to send before and after shots. They really wanted to create a good impression for the supplier. I don't think I look like a shoplifter.

Yeah, this is something companies like Roamler and Bemyeye use to avoid paying. They know it's impossible to take photos and be incognito.

I think I may have been paid for it but I'm not sure. Field Agent is harder to make sense of than some of the other apps seem to be.

I have £5 showing up as my balance and I don't remember oding nay other paid tasks on there, just screening surveys and it is only showing 3 complete tasks and the other two are surveys...

One advantage of reaching 60 is you become invisible - no-one has ever stopped me even in the tiny shops. Only problem is none of my photos are ever accepted ..........I tell a lie - I had one accepted. A sales assistant asked if she could help me and I got her to take the photo "so my daughter could check which shampoo she had asked me to get"! I stick to traditional mystery shopping where all I need is a photo of the outside .....

They shouldn’t be allowed to make you delete photos off your phone. That’s you’re own property.

Luckily I’ve never be caught myself.

If it's a big chain like Asda write to their head office saying you were taking pictures for your disabled mother in law of stuff that's already listed on their website so can't understand what the problem is. Then watch them send you an apology and a £5 gift voucher! Had an extra £25 this year by doing that.

Goodness me that's all a bit scary wondering if I may be escorted off the premises as a result of taking pictures. I've heard Lidl and Aldi can be a bit uppity about it but imagined Asda or Tesco would let you do almost anything other than walk off with their stock! I used to get nervous taking snaps of the outside of stores and am finding it difficult doing it on actual private property as a store is. Maybe this won't be for me! I'd probably burst into tears.

Unless it's specifically a mystery shop, which involves buying something then it's often best to sign in. Tesco in particular I find are really blasé about visitors once you are signed in and have a visitor badge. This morning I had a job in tesco to check stock and shelf edge labels. I asked a shop floor guy to print a missing label for me and he just scanned the item and told me to collect the label from the printer in the wearhouse and left me to find the printer and put the label out. I found myself wandering around their wearhouse looking for the printer. I could have been anyone really.

I know, I've done jobs for Tesco via Assossia and they give you total free access. There was once loads of fieldworkers doing the same as well whilst I was there, unbelievable really. I used to do all the regular mystery shop type companies. Market force is good and straightforward but sadly, since losing my Husband I can't seem to find the confidence for full-on mystery shopping that's why in a way these little all type huge appealed but I can't see me getting very far with them in all honesty.

Try not to worry about it. The vast majority of the time nobody gives you a second glance. I’ve had a few customers giving me funny looks but who cares? In over two years of doing these across a few apps I’ve orobably been challenged less than five. If I’m meant to be incognito I usually just tell them outright what I’m doing, show them the app and explain the task, not been asked not to continue yet.

At the risk of scaring you (seriously it’s not scary) I was once taking pictures of a petrol station when a police car pulled in, one of the officers came to ask what I was doing but left me alone once I explained. The funniest was about an hour after being in a Tesco Express I got a phone call from the police as the staff had taken my reg number when I left. Again after explaining what’d been doing they were fine and no further action taken. For the handful of challenges I’ve earned over £3k (probably more but I’ve not got my records to hand) while I’ve been doing it so it’s definitely worth it.

Many thanks for the reply, sounds like you've made something of an art form of this type of work. I will stick with it!

It happens

Like @tykesi says if you are making thousands from these apps and 'spot checks' are few and far between I honestly wouldn't worry about it and would just take it on the chin IF you do get caught.
