It's that time of year for us when the stars align and all our insurance renewals come at once.

Car Insurance went from £250 to £290 with Hastings to had to ring them to get that down

Home insurance went from £159 to £209! with Aviva so have left them and gone to Admiral for £109

Holiday Insurance has also gone up quite a fair bit as well!

anyone else experiencing this, I'm sure the jumps didn't use to be this big!

Jon, have you already renewed your House Insurance, if not would you like my friend link for £100 cashback after 90 days if policy is £100 plus Buildings or/and contents, I never buy contents paid £7.00 for years Building Insurance after receiving £100 cashback after 90 days

Pays to shop around each year like I now read that you have done :)

My car insurance went down £2.00 as well. It is now £203.81 fully comp.
I really want it to go below £200. Maybe next year.

yeah I’ve got three insurance renewals over the next month and they’ve all gone up! Certainly worth shopping about to get the better deals.

We have just moved everything to Admiral. They have good discounts for multiple products. I find it difficult to get a cheap contents only home insurance quote but was pleased with the Admiral quote.

Plus our home insurance wasn’t due for a month and the other car insurance wasn’t due for 6 months but they quoted them in advance, and gave us the multi-insurance discount now before the others start.

Yeah I might move my car insurance to them next year if their home insurance price doesn't jump up by 50% or something stupid lol

I am going to try the Martin Lewis trick this year, where he recommends you apply for renewing your car insurance 21 days prior to it's expiry date. I forget the exact reasons, but something to do with insurance companies going by model that people who leave there car insurance renewals up to date of expiry are financially more risky, or maybe know these people are more savvy at shopping around?...dunno about also being more likely to have an accident???;). So I have marked the date I need to apply on my calendar and see if I get a noticeable reduction? My husband and I have a multi-car insurance with Aviva which has given us a cheaper insurance for both vehicles.

I did my quote more than 3 weeks early last year but didn't buy. I definitely found it cheaper than when i did buy it on the day. This year I learnt my lesson and have just renewed with a different provider for over £100 cheaper. Have done it early as I don't need it to start until 24 June

Just to let you know I have done my car insurance renewal today and saved myself a massive £575 pounds?...This year I have renewed 21 days early to the day as recommended by Martin Lewis. I got a renewal quote by Aviva who I have been with for a number of years. In the last 2 years I have taken out multicar insurance for a 2 year old Mitsubishi Barbarian L200 which is not cheap to insure on purchase, and my 5 yr old Vauxhall insignia. This year they sent me a quote which was going to be an eye watering £270.09 more. I rang them directly and asked for the best quote they could offer, and they were only able to knock off another £126.39. I then decided to shop around and found LV, who as a new customer I was able to take out a comparable insurance policy of £748 which is a whopping £572.54 saving from what I was originally quoted. Not only that...but I carried out the purchase online via Quidco, and for taking out multicar insurance, I should now also qualify for a nice £75 cashback!.............

So savvy money savers.....it does pay to shop around for car insurance, maybe look at taking out multicar insurance cos that may save you some pennies if you have more than one vehicle registered at your address, and I reckon I probably also benefited from buying early, and check if the company are listed on Quidco (or Topcashback) so you can get some cashback. :)

Only thing is multicar Insurance is well you have to have more than one car lol

Just renewed our Car insurance

Last year £311.67
Renewal Price £356.43

Luckily Admiral have a LIVE CHAT facility on their website and amazingly they found another £58 they could take off with no changes taking the price down to £297.82

I HATE how these renewal prices don't just come at you with the better price but they must know most people won't bother contacting them and haggling

So far this year our contents and car insurance have come down by some margin with the same company. It looks as though they're not trying to gouge their customers under this new rule of new customers not being advantaged over old/loyal ones.

I was expecting it all to go up. On the other hand, it's LV= so maybe they're mindful that they've just had a bloody nose from their attempts to sell-out to an equity gang and are behaving themselves at the moment.

LV= seem to have INCREDIBLY cheap car insurance at the moment!

dunno what that's about but I used confused.com and the like and their prices are rock bottom!

I know. Its takes the piss. Mine was £190 last year up to £230 this year!!! Shopped around for a cheaper quote and got £180 plus £40 cashback from TCB

Its an absolute must to shop around each year and take the cheapest quote back to your current insurer to see if they can beat it. People are throwing away hundreds of pounds by letting them auto-renew.

I couldn't even find the option on the Admiral website to turn OFF the auto-renewal!!!

Yes, we are with LV for the last couple of years, and use their multi-car deal to insure both our vehicles which works out even cheaper. Each year I ring and enquire about what is the best deal they can offer to compare with other prices. I would recommend at the point of any contract ending like Broadband, car insurance, phone contracts...that you always ring customer renewals and haggle as more often than not I have managed to get a better deal.
