Hello everyone, I am interested in creating a blog with the aim of creating an income stream from it. However, I am an online introvert and a very private person. The thought of having my name or picture in the blog or linking it to FB or doing YouTube videos just makes me very anxious and has put me off blogging for years. I would be happy to do podcasts and YouTube content that does not show my face or home.

Is it possible to create a financially successful blog pretty much anonymously?

Yes, without a doubt

My real name isn’t anywhere on my blog (or websites!), I personally don’t run a YouTube channel or anything, pics of me I’ve put up on twitter or IG but that’s about it.

I don’t think it makes any difference in the amount of traffic you get so go for it I say!!

Yeah! You don't need to have your name OR picture out there.

It does help having your face on a blog as it makes you more human and more 'like you'. This often can help improve your payment rate for blog posts but that doesn't mean you wont get paid if you don't have your name/photo out there.

You can make money without even getting paid for blog posts - Affiliates and referals don't rely on this. Check out @Jon comparethemeerkatmatchbetting - Just content on matchbetting with Aff Links to MB websites. If you can find similar things to this then you just keep earning.

Aye I mean when companies come to you for backlinks or if they want to run a campaign I can't think in 5+ years of doing this if the fact my face isn't shown on my blog has been an issue.

Unless you are going to run a fashion / beauty / travel blog then they want your platform / Authority, not your face.

Thanks for starting this thread it's something which has been on my mind. Not so much the personal information on the blog but the necessary interaction on social media.

Social media has been on my mind too. I have watched YouTube videos, read blog posts and looked into Clickbank. I am not comfortable with my friends and family knowing what I am doing on the side. I just don't want the judgement (from family). It has happened before many years ago when I was dipping my toes into MLM. When it didn't work out, or more correctly, I realised it wasn't for me, you could almost hear them say 'I knew she wouldn't make it'.

Now though, I am comforted by your responses. No, I am not looking into fashion/beauty or travel as my outlet - still haven't actually decided on the direction....... but I know that doesn't really matter as there will be an audience for whatever subject I decide to base my blogs upon.

Side story for you. My son went to university about 7 years ago to study video gaming and video animation programming. In his very first lecture, the lecturer told them that unless they had connections in the industry they were highly unlikely to get a job in the gaming world. He asked the room of about 150 people if they were making any money on the internet. About 5 people raised their hands. Most of them were selling on auction sites with only one person blogging and at that time was making £1,500 per month regularly. He'd had his blog for a couple of years. His blog subject? Horse saddles.

HORSE SADDLES????

Who knew there was so much interest in horse saddles? So, I am going to trust that there is an audience out there for my blog and I will monetise it in every way I can and that I too will be able to earn significant income in time.

Looking forward to linking it here when the time comes.

Thank you for your feedback and responses.

I think starting blogging and joining multi level marketing are two different things.

Typically when someone joins a MLM they are in super hype mode as they have been set that way by their recruiter after being told how selling makeup or health juice on Facebook is going to change their life. With that of course comes the recruited telling their friends / family about the amazing opportunity they are about to do.

It’s setup to fail.

Blogging has no expectations. You are going to create a website about topic x and write about it. There’s not much your family and friends can say in a negative way about that really!

Have to agree with this! I follow some blogs and I have no idea what the people look like!
