Hi all, so I started this yesterday and so far it looks good. Waiting for the 2 bets finishing sometime today.

I put about £140 in total into coral and Betfair. £20 to coral and £120 into Betfair due to the odds on the free SNR bet was 7.50 so needed a fair bit on Betfair :)

Anyway am I right to say that once I start to accumulate some profits, that I need to leave some money so that I can cover for multiple bets at the same time and the liability?

I mean now I don't want to add more money in to Betfair but I need to wait until the 2 first bets are done so I get some money back to continue :)

How many bets do you have going on simultaneously?

Regards
Ronnie

Yep, at the moment I've about £400 in exchanges and I had much more during Cheltenham festival. Yesterday I didn't have too many exchange bets but the first weekend of the EPL season and on certain days during the world cup I had 10 or more bets going on.

I started with a similar amount as you and built that figure up over time.

You should build up to an exchange balance of around £1000 if you can, that covers you for most eventualities although you could even need more on a busy weekend.

I think odds of 7.5 is just teetering on the right side of acceptable for a free bet but don't push them any higher. Bookies don't like you taking high odds with free bets.

Betfair is fine for the sign up offer but you should open an account with smarkets asap too as they have lower commission. (and look, I have an affiliate link for smarkets in my signature below [friendly subtle hint] )

:)

Just out of interest. Why is it called bookie and exchanges? Both are normal bookies if you don't take into account matched betting?

You aren’t using a bookie side to lay the bet you aren’t using betfair EXCHANGE which isn’t the same as betfair SPORTSBOOK

Though they are the same company lol

The free bet went fine. But will keep that in mind for next time :)
There’s a reason they say in the offer instructions to use your free bet around 4.0-6.0 because otherwise it looks very much like you are just bonus hunting if your qualifying bet is around 1.5 and then your free bet jumps up to 7.0

Yeah, I echo what Jon says.

Be very careful using such high odds with your free bets. A lot of 'mug punters' don't even pay attention to promotions when making their bets; they just want to bet for their favourite team etc.

I personally stick to odds of between 4.0-6.0 when using my free bets. The long term picture of keeping your account eligable for bonuses far outweights the extra bit of money you'd make from higher odds.

Fair point. Never thought of that. I just picked a high odds because it is there. Better place a mug bet to give them some TLC lol

Jon, Please would you mind explaining the EXCHANGE part? I know literally 0 about betting and so far i do not understand betfair can be a regular bookie or an Exchange. what does that mean?

Also In the betting calculator under bet type we have normal and we have free bet (SNR) and Free Bet (Stake Returned) Could someone please explain these last 2?

Betting exchanges offer the opportunity for anyone to both back and lay a bet

A bookie only lets you back a bet

Hi all. Someone mentioned smarkets over Betfair for the exchange. PA send to only use Betfair? I guess it is possible to do a bit of manual work on the PA calculator.

Also I guess we need some money put in to the various bookies we sign up with for free bets? I am still on free tier on PA so I cannot see how many bookies there is on premium PA. But I guess more than a couple :)

Lastly PA is just one matched betting site. The others like oddsmonkey. Do they show the same offers? I mean unless there are some exclusives they should be the same right?

There is around £1000 in sign up offers on PA

As your bankroll increases with each offer you use that money with new bookie signups.

I got my bankroll to around £2500 before I started.taking a profit and I only started with £60!!!

I get that but a bit annoying you have to wait 2-3 days for withdrawal with some bookies.

Yes everyone faces that st the start but like I said the more offers you do the bigger your bankroll so you don’t have to keep waiting for the money to return before you do the next offer as you have cash available!

Jon, I just got an email from Coral saying if i deposit and bet £5 on something with odds over 1/2 then I will instantly get another £5 for free. I guess these are worth doing? it will be like the sign up offer only just less in the free bet?
