I decided that in order to keep myself motivated and, well, honest, I'd start a money earning diary too.

I've been at home since my eldest (now 9) was born. My middle daughter has a heart defect and receives DLA and I get carers allowance for her. However, with the uncertainties surrounding benefits and the cuts that are expected, I need to plan for the fact that there's a good chance that it won't be renewed, I'll lose Carers and I'll have to go back to work.

I have an aim to work up to bringing in £100 per week from online sources to enable me to be able to stay at home with them and I'm really hoping from seeing some posts on here that it's going to be possible. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks before I joined to see what it was all about, but you all seem a nice bunch, so I thought I'd jump in and join you ;D

So far, I've registered with a lot of survey sites, a couple of mystery shopping places and got a few apps loaded onto my phone. Obviously far from cashing in anything but so far I've managed this :-

One Poll - £5.25
One Pulse - £2.25
Toluna - 25000 points
StreetSpottr - £7.50
Registered with YouGov - cashed out £50 a few years ago and realised I hadn't heard from them since!
Completed a couple of surveys yesterday and a £20 Amazon voucher is on its way to me :)

I've seen a few people recommending Leapforce, so I thought I'd apply, however it needs a CV uploading, and despite being a 40 something, I've never needed one, have no idea how to do one, so that's out for now until I can work how to do one after being out of the workforce for the last 10 years plus!

Looking forward to updating this each week

Great to see you are starting a diary [member=1775]kaiserpups[/member]

£100 a week / £400-£500 a month is EASY achievable

In regards to needing a CV for Leapforce I would just use a CV template and get it over and done with because the end result of a work from home job what pays an hourly wage is well worth the effort

Here is a good place for you to start in regards to a CV template

I'll have a look at that link tomorrow when everyone is away to school/nursery and see if I can cobble one together. Thanks [member=1]Jon@TheMoneyShed[/member] nice to know I'm not being too ambitious with my £100 target, when starting with nothing it seems like quite a high figure to aim for ::)

no it's not high at all

I mean you would struggle if all you were doing was surveys etc and nothing else but that isn't really what this site is about. It's about getting exposed to opportunities that pay more that you didn't even know existed. You are then able to stop doing the lower paid work and move up to more higher paying stuff

Welcome :)

I myself do Leapforce - it does say a degree is helpful, however I don't have one. Can I also recommend Global Test Market for surveys - I find that site really good. [member=920]katykicker[/member] is a big fan of it too I believe, I'm sure she can tell you more.

Hello! Best of luck to you - definitely achievable even with not having as many hours to work as some of us (which being a mum x )

Link in my sig has lots of simple survey sites and things that don't require much brainpower. My first year i made just over £100 a week if I remember right and I was working too/battling illness.

If you need any help with specific survey sites feel free to PM me or mention me in a post so I come back x

Thanks for that. I seem to remember actually signing up with them many moons ago. I'll try logging on with my email address and see if I still have an account :) every little helps!

[member=920]katykicker[/member] thanks, I've already bookmarked your blog and I emailed you a week or so ago for a referral, which you kindly did :D

I'll be watching this with interest as my plan is also to stay at home with my youngest daughter (23m). I also have a 10 year old at school.
Good luck [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]

Hi [member=1786]Julesfh2012[/member] mine are 9,7&3. I honestly don't think I could afford to go back to work! The costs for childcare for all 3 is astronomical and with my previous skills in admin I don't think I'd even get a salary that would pay for it!

I tried MLM for the last 6 months, but it's not for me. Don't get me wrong, I know it requires a lot of work, and I put a lot of work in, but I'm more suited to the none selling side of work, which is why I've turned up here.

Good luck to you too, hope you can find something suitable and I'd be happy to have a new buddy to make money alongside of ;D

Just wanted to wish you ladies lots of luck! I have been a sahm or should I say wahm for the last 5 years since being made redundant in 2010. I was sick of juggling a demanding job with single parenthood and just wanted to be able to spend more time with my daughter without feeling stressed and guilty all the time! I have managed to make it work but there have been times when it has been by the skin of my teeth and there have been many times when there has been a lot less money coming in than I would have liked! Over the years I must have tried pretty much everything under the sun to bring money in! I would say with admin skills your best bet is to look for virtual assistant type work, this doesn't have to be secretarial work, it coves all sorts of things from telemarketing to proof reading to social media management to research. I'd recommend it because it pays an hourly rate so you know where you are money wise each month then. Another tip is, if you can, try to always have more than one client on the go at once, that way, you are not putting all your eggs in one basket, but also, if you work for one client you will earn a bit of money, if you work for two, you will start to earn decent money, and if you can work for 3 or more at the same time, then you are laughing - in my experience! It does take a bit more effort and organisational skills juggling different clients but there are lots of opportunities to pick up a few hours here, a few hours there, and the more clients you can pick up, the more you will earn. Good luck and keep us updated as to how you get on!

[member=1]Jon@TheMoneyShed[/member] I joined up with Younique the day it launched in the UK. Love the products, but ended up buying more for me than anyone bought from me. I go officially inactive at the end of this month. So many other presenters in my local area and I'm just not the 'in your face' competitive type of person. Neither did I wish to be one of the thousands of presenters that spam FB groups desperate for team members. I know there are other ways of doing it, but after not long moving to where we are now, my personal amount of friends are a bit thin on the ground.

Thank you [member=1183]sparkleandshine[/member] :D I'm hoping to get involved with a few things that will actually pay for actual work done rather than try and keep all my eggs in one basket, then cry when nothing comes in one month. Thanks for the tip, I never though I'd be able to use my admin skills to find work online. Any advice where to begin looking? I hated office work (in the sense of the actual working in an office environment with all the internal politics) but enjoyed the actual work, so virtual assistant type work is something I'd definitely look into.

I know what you mean, I felt like I outgrew being a pa/secretary too, I got sick of being the person in the background, doing all the work but never getting any of the credit! :D That's why I started gravitating towards sales and management instead. I did nearly 4 years with Avon as a sales leader, working from home, but the trouble with work from home sales jobs is they are almost always commission only based so if you need an income you can rely on they're not the best option. That's why I have come back to va work having decided that I wanted to still work from home but I wanted to be paid an hourly rate. There seem to be so many more opportunities now than when I first tried my hand at va work back in 2010. There are va agencies you can join, also jobs you can apply for directly, gumtree, indeed and the working mums websites job boards are all good for finding opportunities. Or you can make a list of all your different skills you can offer and advertise yourself for clients on sites like People Per Hour and so on. Maybe create your own website and promote yourself that way too.

I might be in a position to offer you something myself in June, 2 hours a day Monday to Friday, if you might be interested message me with your cv and I'll be in touch with more details if it comes off! Skill set required is PA/secretarial, writing and research.

In the meantime good luck with your search! With good admin skills I'm sure you will find something soon :)
