I remember @Chammy had oneI'm considering buying a Chromebook to do my online work instead of the Desktop I have. Does anybody have one? Is it good?
Thanks.
Thanks Jon
Ah okay. Ill have a look around. ThanksI had one, I didn't have one for long!
As someone who currently has 48 Chrome tabs open, it couldn't handle me
Seriously though, if you're looking for something more portable then go for a full laptop, they're much more flexible and can be abused that little bit more.
Yes I'm just looking for a lower priced laptop to do my work. I just had my bike stolen so I had to buy another one and other costs are piling on so I can't afford spend loads on a laptop atm.Is there a reason you want a chromebook? Is it just a price thing? Have you tried using the Amazon Discount Widget to the side?
Right I understand. My brother reccomended the Chrome book thats the only reason I had that in mind otherwise I'd just go onto Currys and buy something but im clueless :/ I'd like something less than £300. I don't care how it looks only that I can work on it and I'm not bothered about using YouTube or social media.I used to sell laptops and still do some repairs so if you want any advice I'd be willing to chip on.
If like Chammy, you tend to have loads of tabs opened concurrently you'll want to make sure what you get has a minimum of 8GB RAM (which most do now) but I'd recommend 16GB where possible, especially if you have more than one Chrome window open with multiple tabs, listening to music in the background and work with other software like photo/video editing.
Also look out for ones with an SSD (solid state drive) as that will be a much faster operating experience compared to traditional drives.
That being said, depending on the model, it could be upgraded to 16GB in the future if required.
Do you have any specific requirements/budget? I always recommend avoiding Chromebooks unless your sole task is checking emails and occasional browsing. The operating system is so restrictive that if you're any way used to Windows it will probably drive you mad.
Its a nightmate tbh because I'm a key worker so I really rely on my bike and it was worth maybe £600Sorry to hear about your bike?
Do you have a top figure for how much you are willing to spend?
Thanks. Ill have a look on a few local sites Im on.Is there any real issues with the desktop at the moment or is it just for portability? If you can stick it out a bit longer and save the money until you can spend a bit more it would be so much more beneficial as laptops circa £300 have terrible processors and aren't really worth considering.
The other option would be to look for one second hand locally, either a reputable store or check listings for someone selling something that's max two years old. You might be able to find a bargain as I'm sure there could be some people at the moment finding themselves tight for cash wanting to get a sale quickly.
If you see anything you're interested in but unsure about, drop me a PM and I'll be happy to advise
Also agree with what is posted above is another good option. You can always pick up a replacement battery if needed.
Itll be for survey sites and things like Neevo. The desktop doesnt have sound now and it has a few other issues so I havent been on Neevo in a while. What sort of work is it you are trying to do on this laptop?
