Sometimes when you start a blog it can be good to have a bit of feedback.

I feel I've been in the 'blog game' for long enough and would love to get the chance to help others out by giving them a bit of feedback about the site and the content on it.

So if you'd like to offer up your blog for review then drop the URL below and I'll do one for you!

Design

Nice colour scheme. you NEED a logo of some kind so that people can recognise it and not just the name of your blog. You can use that in regards to your social media promotion as well.

The theme works well, I would change your publicised email address on the front page to something a bit more friendly than admin@matchedbettingzest etc.

The Offers section on the right hand side is VERY clever as they take me straight through to the offer via your affiliate link

Content

Some of your pages link to unsecure content to lose the padlock such as - https://matchedbettingzest.com/free-bets/. Use https://www.whynopadlock.com to find out why that is.

The content, on the whole, is VERY text heavy which isn't your fault that's just Matched Betting in general so I would put in a LOT of screenshots to break up the wall of text on some of the pages.

You don't seem to have a featured image on ANY of your pages which you need if only for social media promotion!!

The Glossary page is a VERY good idea but what about links to fraction > decimal calculators or Trickybet etc. Can see that page ranking well in the same way my Ultimatcher post does!

You also need to interlink your posts more as Google likes that. So try and get it so each of your guides links to another of your pages so google comes to page 1 and then scans the linked pages as well

Thoughts for the future

More images and a Logo need to be KEY for this site. You are dealing with quite dry content and it needs livening up a bit!

Also, it seems you aren't linking through to a Matched Betting provider like Profit Accumulator or OddsMonkey where you can earn a bundle of cash by sending people through to the via your affiliate link

I really would, but I am so far from where I would like it to be right now... maybe in a few months!

Are you live now? I'm looking forward to reading your blog!

Yep live, but in a bit of a mess at the moment... just made another decision on how I want it set up. Trying to fix my few blog posts now I have a vague idea of where I might be going with this and then will add it to my signature on here.

Funny you just messaged as I was just reading your blog!

You'll get there. I'm finding the hardest challenge at the minute is finding the time to blog! I know one of @Jon s first comments on mine would be that i need to create content more frequently!

I found the design on your blog to be a bit confusing in some of the choices made. You seem to have the ENTIRE blog post shown to the user on the front page instead of a snipped. This means that if they want to look at older posts they have to scroll, scroll some more, then a bit more, and then they might get to find something they want (remembering that you want to make it as easy as possible for users to find new content on your site!)

Your actual HOME page (https://www.richestmaninlondon.com/home) Just gives me your twitter feed sort of boxed in on the right

There' an awful lot of white space on your pages so I would either make the blog post content fill up the page more width wise and reduce the sidebar size or think about adding some colour to the background.

I would get rid of the disclaimer page. Just have the content a bit more condensed and have it on the side of your blog as a widget so it appears on every page.

Content

The Monday Music Monday concept is very clever! I think the content just needs a bit more of a WOW factor but you are getting in the hunt as they say in regards to that section of your site I feel.

You interlink VERY well in your blog. I can go to one of your pages and more often than not there is links within that content to other pages on your site.

The side hustle summaries are also a bit dry. I'm never overly convinced on those things anyway as I'm not sure anyone beyond the person writing them cares that they earned 60p via the JobSpotter app that month. The content also becomes old and irrelevant VERY quickly. If you decide to keep them I would recommend putting links in it so people can at least read it and then click straight through to download the app or visit the website you are earning money from.

Download and use Grammarly when you are writing posts as you've got sections like this I found

AkmfUSg.png

It's missing capital letters and other punctuation and Google does actually care about these things (and so will your readers!)

Thoughts for the future

You need to work on your front page a LOT. Ignoring the fact it has ENTIRE blog posts on there instead of snipped if I go to your blog I have no real clue what it's about. The header image for starters need to be more descriptive I feel about what you can actually get from the site.

Floating social media SHARE icons are annoying. Think of another way to implement those. My suggestion would be in static form at the top of each page.

Your Essential Reading page (https://www.richestmaninlondon.com/recommendations/essential-reading) is another good idea but you need a LOT more content if you want people to click through and buy those books. They either need reviews by yourself next to them or other reasons why people should spend money on it. Affiliate marketing is all about making the reader feel they NEED the thing you are recommending, just putting the link in front of them isn't enough.

Feel free to review mine, but only on the condition it is gentle.. I need the soft soap! Still slightly unconvinced about my blog and really whether anyone will be the slightest bit interested, but it is up and running with a couple of posts. No social media yet and probably lots of work still to do.

A review with some pointers on what to look at next (apart from lots more posting) will be gratefully received. https://www.theaveragelife.co.uk/

Design

I like the front page with the description about you / the site however I would condense it down to maybe just 1 paragraph and then start with the blog post snipped below. You want people to sit your blog and be exposed to as much content as possible! You can take that paragraph and then it into a post and there is a tickbox in wordpress to make that post STATIC on the front page so it will always appear at the top and then you can have all the blog posts appear below in date order.

You need a logo of some kind. I suggest using Canva to create something.

I like the use of different sized fonts in the blog post. Good for breaking up the content.

Content

I know there's not much there but what's there is well written and VERY easy to read. You don't need to get LOADS of content up quickly. Take your time or else you will reach burnout!

Thoughts for the future

You need to integrate the links on your site a bit more and not list links as actual URLs

So for example

5. Unwanted pens
You can post your unwanted pens to people overseas to help with schools and orphanages: http://www.pensforkids.co.uk/how_you_can_help.html

You could re-do that as

5. Unwanted pens
You can post your unwanted pens to people overseas to help with schools and orphanages via the PensForKids scheme.

You also need to accept that it's OK to not know where your blog is heading at the start. Your title is generic enough that it can be whatever you want it to be but you might not know what that is for 6-8months until you see what sort of content you enjoy writing and also pulls in the most traffic.

Thanks for being kind Jon :)

All good points... I have fixed the links already. I do have a logo, but it isn't on the site as I am fighting the theme a bit.... if I ever work out how to do it without the logo looking ridiculous I will put it on!

Originally I had it set up with the blog on the first page and a sticky post for the about me as you suggest, but I decided that I didn't like it and wanted to see the same nice page and the blog on the blog page (maybe I'm just old and boring, but I like it to be like a website and I like to help people find stuff easily). However, your point on seeing content is a very good one... I have currently added a recent posts plugin so you can see the recent posts with the about below it and will see how it goes.

Just have to keep going now!

Thanks for your in-depth breakdown. It's great to get a second opinion!

Believe it or not, I've set my blog to show just a snippet in the feed but it shows the full post anyway. Grrrr...

Screen Shot 2018-03-27 at 00.03.32.png

Also, I have Grammarly but it didn't seem to pick up on the example you showed. Strange.

Thanks again, though. My main takeaway is to sort out the homepage!

Thanks again,

Thanks again,

Something in your theme is overriding that for some reason. I assume you are creating POSTS and not PAGES yeah?
