Sometimes when you start a blog it can be good to have a bit of feedback.

I feel I've been in the 'blog game' for long enough and would love to get the chance to help others out by giving them a bit of feedback about the site and the content on it.

So if you'd like to offer up your blog for review then drop the URL below and I'll do one for you!

Hi Jon,

Does it need to be a blog about money saving? I’m about to start s beauty blog but it’s only beauty products and samples that you can get for free. Would that count?

Hi @ScaryHair100

It literally just needs to be a blog. The topic isn't an issue ;)

Hi Jon

I set this one up a few weeks ago - let me know your thoughts https://supersavvyvegan.uk

Cheers

Design

Absolutely LOVELY layout on your blog. I like the picture format for new posts with each description giving a clear understanding of what is in the potential post. You need some prominent links to your social media channels on the front page and social media share icon on each post will help you.

you have a fair bit of white space on the left on each page which I can't tell is deliberate or not. If it is then put some relevant widgets in there and if not I would look at redesigning the layout on your posts.

In fact there is a lot of white space in general. I would look at giving the background a bit of colour or relevance. White ALWAYS makes things look much more empty than they are!

I would move the 'sign up for the newsletter' widget to the top of each post.

Your use of graphics is great. It breaks the content up well.

Content

Everything is very well written with a personal twist to everything I read. The posts aren't overly long and keep me engaged long enough. I think you are missing a trick by not doing something like 'My top vegan buys this month!' with relevant affiliate links.

You interlink to other content well but I would look at putting more links to external sites of authority within the vegan world.

Some of the pics in the blog posts are quite small. Could you make them larger at all to fit the width of the content?

Thoughts for the Future

You need to start implementing affiliate links. Posts like (https://supersavvyvegan.uk/lorama-foods-vegan-cake-review/) are RIFE for adding in the relevant links and people live Googling for recipes and then clicking through to buy them.

You need a logo of some kind. I see you have one on your Twitter profile so I would just move that over to keep things consistent with your branding!

On sites like (https://supersavvyvegan.uk/supermarket-app-can-save-you-pounds/) where you list a URL implement that into the content rather than showing the raw URL so instead of

@Jon I'm half tempted to ask you to review Money mental now. But given that the youtube channel is close to launching (on temporary hold due to not having an SD card) I might wait until I've got a few vlogs up on the site ass well if that's ok? Plus I know you've already given me some helpful feedback :)

Really good of you to give your time like this though! I've seen people attempting to charge for this stuff and I bet their reviews aren't half as good or honest!

My blog is www.premierleagueheroes.com which is a blog about what ex Premier League footballers are doing now that they have retired.

As you can see I have Adsense and Amazon Affiliate links on the site but neither bring in too much. The majority of money that comes in from the site is via sponsored blog posts.

Would appreciate any feedback.

Cheers

Here's mine www.onewagefamily.com

I seem to have lost my blogging mojo and not sure whether to carry on with it. Any feedback good or bad would be appreciated!

Design

You've got a fantastic logo there alongside some interesting typography that I think is very eye catching. Your menu is very small and quite condensed so I would look at making that bigger and more spread out so that the options are more prominent.

The whiteness in the background stands out quite a bit so I would maybe look at perhaps making it a bit more pastoral colourwise.

The widgets on the side work very well with things like your Instagram feed showing there.

I would move your 'follow me on social media' to the top above everything else. People will care more about doing that then clicking on an everything5pounds ad I feel.

Content

I found the blog posts very well written. You use good use of graphics / images in the posts. You could maybe interlink your internal pages a bit more. Generally, in a blog post you want to look for 1-2 internal links and 1-2 external links so Google Spiders the page well.

Everything is very easy to read with good breaks throughout a post. I would look to make use of H1 / H2 lettering at times though so that you can make each section of a blog post a bit more obvious.

Thoughts for the future

You need SSL Cert sorting out so your blog is https - Google will be de-ranking you in search results already and you don't want that.

Your subscribe / Newsletter box literally just says this

aY3dRuc.png

I would give some thought over this about making it more appealing. Why subscribe? What sort of content will you be sending etc.

You say you feel you are missing your blogging mojo but you've only been going 3 months so far so you can't expect miracles. It will take 6-8 months for things to really ramp up so just keep doing what you are doing at the moment! Be ALL OVER social media, promote the heck out of your posts, write guest posts for other blogs and everything will come togeather!

Hi, please could you do a review of mine. Thanks very much

Design

The design seems a bit all over the place. Your header has a big gap of white on the right-hand side of your logo. Your logo I can see has the screengrab pointer in it as well. Use something like Canva to create a better-looking Logo

Your menu works well as do the widgets down the right-hand side so it's just the top you need to work on in terms of the front page.

Your blog posts also need a few more images. They don't even appear to have a featured image at the top of them.

Content

The content is well written but there are quite a lot of punctuation and grammar mistakes which if you are looking to earn money from this site going forward you don't want on there as PRs etc will notice. Download Grammarly and use it when creating content. As I mentioned above, include more images and also look at having more outbound links.

Your content actually flows really well and the 4-5 blog posts I looked at I thought well very well structured with some great intros and humor.

Thoughts for the future

Tighten up the content and then design and I think you will be 'in the hunt' as they say in regards to your blog. Sometimes it's easy to write just for yourself but you have to remember that people WILL read it and so it's important that it looks as professional as you can make it. Grammarly will help A LOT with that!

Keep the personal touch that you're using as well at the moment. Bloggers in your 'mum blog' niche LOVE that sort of thing!

Thanks Jon for your feedback and taking the time to offer your advice on my blog. I agree with you about the small changes I could make. I keep saying it but I will get the SSL certificate sorted one day I promise!

Feel free to review mine, but only on the condition it is gentle.. I need the soft soap! Still slightly unconvinced about my blog and really whether anyone will be the slightest bit interested, but it is up and running with a couple of posts. No social media yet and probably lots of work still to do.

A review with some pointers on what to look at next (apart from lots more posting) will be gratefully received. https://www.theaveragelife.co.uk/
@Queen Jess just clicked onto this and it looks really lovely. I don’t know anything about critiquing blogs so for the lay person, it looks great on the eye. It feels really calm, if that makes sense, and I’d totally read your stuff based on seeing this :)

And now I need to get involved with this. I love writing and I think I’m good at grammar! Is there an average/optimum word count?

Google urban legand says word count minimum should be 500 words per post
