Just read an article about a woman who has shut her bank account and now lives without money, embracing the "giving culture". This is beyond the "barter system", where people owe one another one job or thing for another, but she just lives to do things for others and visa versa and people live without the use of a monetary transaction.

Revolutionary?, Freeing, extreme, inspiring

In a world where people are struggling with the cost of living....maybe this could be a solution?

Do you have a link to that article. Without reading it I can't see how that could work in any way shape or form.

Honestly, it’s a pretty wild lifestyle choice, but I get the appeal. Living without money and relying purely on mutual help flips the whole system on its head. It’s super freeing in theory, no bills, no stress about cash, but also really extreme and not easy for most people to pull off. Still, in tough times, focusing more on community and sharing could definitely help ease financial pressure for many. Definitely inspiring, but probably not practical for everyone.

I cant see how it would work. Supermarkets are not likely to allow her to have food without money. Same with clothes and toiletries. Surely she would need to get a bus or a taxi.

I’ve had old refunds pop up out of nowhere, so I started using how to find out if a company owes you money - moneypilot to catch stuff I’d never think to check on my own. It saved me from juggling state sites, federal searches, and random past employers, and it flagged a couple of small credits I would’ve missed.
