thought I’d have a go at this and created about 20 books earlier in the year, mostly just notebooks and planners. I forgot all about them and logged in to my kdp account recently after an email from them and was suprised I’ve actually had some sales although they are all of the same book so 19 haven’t sold at all!

Trying to work out why this book sold and now I’m trying to create similar books.
Unfortunately I priced all my books quite low so not much profit!

I’m interested to hear how others are getting on.

Well done!

I've got around 120 different books but I have many that don't sell.

This month I've made £2100 so far and hoping for a little bit more sales before the end of the month.

Read through this and decided to give this a whirl today. Spent most of the day figuring it out but now I've got my first one up and running it shouldn't take much to get other ideas off the ground.

wow thats amazing amyjay! Did you do any reasearch on niches/keywords beforehand?

I didnt do any research just tried different theme covers for notebooks and some free templates i found. Ive created my first interior using canva so going to keep trying out new things.

Yes, I do a lot of research. I use only Amazon to do all my research. Making sure I'm picking a niche that isn't saturated but also will make me enough sales.

I also do a lot of research to pick the correct key words.

I'd rather do research to find products that will actually sell rather than wasting my time making books and I never sell a copy.

I prefer to make my own templates so that my product is unique compared to the others on the market.

Good point about creating your own interiors.
In Canva, which shades of grey do you use? (are certain greys/black too dark for a printed book?)

Also, how do you centre align the Cover Title in Canva? I uploaded the cover template, added a Square Element to the centre line, all looked good. But when uploading to KDP - the cover title seems off-centre to the right.

Kdp say the grey has to be at least 10%.
I normally pick one of the paler ones, can't remember exactly which one off the top of my head.

For the cover titles, I mark where the spine ends and pick somewhere in the middle of that and the right hand side of the page.

I usually click on add text which should appear in the centre of the page and then turn it 90 degrees so it looks like it’s where the spine should be and use that as a guide.

So 5 of my 12 got accepted for publishing today. Even if no one buys one ever I feel I have upskilled and learnt something new so thanks so much for those that have put advice and tips in this post. I do have something I want to create with regards to one of my daughters activities but will take more time and headspace that’s I perhaps have currently but watch this space...

Out of interest Hanna, did they say why some were accepted and others not?

@hanna.obrien.79 , how long did it take Amazon to accept your books?

Most of them have now been accepted today although it says they are unavailable. So it took 3 or 4 days but they were all over the holiday period so looks like they're playing catch up today.

@homie I think they were just doing it in a particular order. I think by the end of today they will have worked through them all.

Can't wait until someone asks what job I do....world's my oyster there....author, designer, publisher lol

Never heard of this until I seen your thread, so watched few youtube videos etc and looks right up my street. Funnily enough about 6 months back i got a messenger invite to send a picture of your dog and they will do a competition to see if they will be in an adults or childs colouring book and you'd also get discount on purchasing the book. I mean what a way to get sent content that will make people buy cause it's there beloved pets. At the time thought I was lucky, now i know it was just a brilliant way to earn on low content lol

Logged into KDP account and realised I've made 4 sales :) (with only 5 books listed).

However, someone has left me a 3-star review - saying they can't record XYZ in the log book. ...But I know the book does what it should do.

@amyjay , can I do anything about an incorrect review?
