Hi Nate. @curiousandgeeks advice is spot on, you kind of need to get a feel for what kind of book you want to do and go from there. Getting used to margins and layout will always take a good bit of time in the beginning. Deciding on what you will use to create your books will take a bit of time too - Canva/Publisher etc.

I used Rachael Harrison-Sunds YT and I think she's well grounded in that this won't make you millions overnight, it's a slow burner, but her advice is sound and she is cautious which I like. I also like looking at Kindlepreneur's content as he gives good insight into other things. I haven't bought any courses from anyone, but I did buy Kindlepreneur's software which lets you see quickly the keywords that are being searched for in a given area. I use that and manually looking at Amazon in order to find the right areas.

Good luck and hope you enjoy the creative process!

I've got three journals up at the moment... Zero sales. But tbh I lost interest more or less as soon as the first one was published ... Just a case of "yay look what I've done"... Looks to be too much of the journal stuff readily available in B and m and aldi etc..

So my sales are nowhere near as exciting as @amyjay but I have literally done just 10 designs and left them to it. I did a bit of promo and am now earning a monthly single or double figure sum out of it which is fine. I wanted to see if it worth investing more time in it.

I am loving the new BETA version of the sales dashboard, it really shows just what is selling and what isn't. There are three main disciplines in my sport and it's quite funny to see which ones are more into journaling and logging progress.

Niche as previously said is key. My no content - ie lined note books that are random designs have had no sales but my competition log books and undated journals are!
I have a bit of time on my hands at the moment so have spent a few hours today making some new covers on Canva and I have just made my first Hardback book!
I am on annual leave the week after next so intend fully to get on with some 2022 dated planners and do a load of promotion for Christmas!

Also for my sins have started to put together a word search book in my niche area. I watched a few YouTube Tutorial on general ones and thought I'd give it a go. Coming up with 20 words per grid isn't hard is it o_O thats 1000 words for a 50 word search grid book. But actually have done 30 grids in unique topics with relatively little effort. Next week is Canva time to get them made up and submitted.

Has anyone else created an Author Central page? I did a few months ago. Another avenue to promote your low content books, as it's clickable from your Amazon book listing.

I always think the scope with these sort of things is amazing. Yes you are sort of playing in Amazons 'sand box' so to speak but what you can create and sell is only limited by your creativity and the audience for it!

Yes I have quite a few different author Central pages.

I'm also branching out and have 2 websites so far.

I offer a freebie at the back of the books to try gain emails.

One website only launched this week. Second website was launched last month and I have 4 subscribers.

From January onwards I'm going to be doing a big push at trying to sell some of my books externally and through author copies. For my specific niche, j will make an author Central and another website and contact clients to try get them to purchase directly from me. Last summer I had bulk orders for this product but unfortunately through Amazon I don't know who the clients are.

Hi all, I thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing with their KDP? I have some time planning to tackle so I can spend time on this properly next year but I have a few books up and one of them makes a sale every other day or so. Usually just in the UK but I got a random order of 20 books from US market yesterday, having only previously sold about three in the US. So that was strange but nice.

I am hoping sales are doing well for everyone!

Sold about 20 books so far in November. Listed circa 125. Nothing amazing but shows the potential if I upload more.

is it a particular type of book that's selling? Is it a seasonal thing (ie, new year, new journal, new diary etc.) ?

My November's going great so far. The numbers below are gross figures as I'm also running adverts. Though most books are selling without adverts.

I've not been making many books recently. I took a break from making books for a month and will start again next week. I didn't want to burn out and do too much.

That's really super, work! Sensible to take a break too. That's the beauty of it, if you have books that make sales you can take a bit of time off and it continues to work for you. (y)

Sorry, can I please just come on here to say that I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED MY FIRST STUDY GUIDE/NOTEBOOK. I stupidly decided to do it on Canva without realising I needed to use the margin tool so it took me 2 days. First of many I hope and fingers crossed it will tie into my tutoring business.
Go me!

Interested in this - is most of the money generated through kindle readers browsing for for ‘free’ or through actual sales?
How are you guys promoting the books?
Keywords on the site seem pretty saturated!
