I've decided to start some Print On Demand - how many designs does everyone have?
Do you tend to upload the design to every product type or just some?
I've so far uploaded to redbubble and going to try some others soon - here's hoping I'll get some sales

Really thinking of giving this a go. Do you have to be really creative to be able to make it a success? I was recently made redundant from my job and I have since secured a new role but have had to take quite a pay cut so I'm looking for something to help me make up the difference.

I got turned down for Amazon merch and havent really had time to create betterstuff in order to reapply. However, i have been thinking of doing my ownPOD stuff on ebay. Ive looked at a POD company called Inkthreadable, UK based. Join their Facebook hub, its full of helpful POD -ers. And their website has templates you can try your designs on

Yep. Size your design as per their template with any design software you like. I've used paint.net.
With regardsto different materials, that's probably a no. They have a range of blank tshirts hoodies etc from different manufacturers. Inkthreadable print but don't manufacturer the garment.
Here's a few helpful tips ive gleaned from the Inkthreadable Facebook hub
- the range of clothing encompasses several manufacturers and there seems to be a variance with sizes and thickness of fabric especially with ladies sizes
Back prints on garments will double the price you pay
If you're going to list on eBay you need to list item location from where the item is despatched (Inkthreadable are in Blackburn ) otherwise eBay will spot the difference between your address and the postcode on tracking and they'll penalise you as a drop shipper
It would probably be useful to order one of your own garments before marketing so that you can assess what your customers will be receiving.

Downloaded Gimp and going to give this a go. Tried working Gimp out myself but its so confusing think I will need Youtube to get how to do it. Please tell me it is easier than it looks once you've watched videos.

I couldnt get thehang of it - watched loads of videos. I use paint.net - much easier. Initially I thought i would have to use Gimp if I got accepted for Merch but Ive since been told that you can create in paint, net (which works great on the Inkthreadable mock ups) and if you go on to be accepted for Merch you can import your paint.net images to Gimp and upload it to merch

Theres an easy to follow paint .net you tube tutorial here

So done a design on paint and wanted to put it onto gimp, it kept giving me white background. After many attempts it changed to clear and the text id wrote on GIMP was noticeable. I just cant get it to download on Teepublic, saying it is a corrupt file. Not sure where I am going wrong. Why cant they make things simple lol.

First one published! Decided to take out the paint drawing and just use text instead on paint. Will have to try look at Gimp again and try work out things. So for now my designs will just be text..

To get rid of the white box you need to remove the background layer and save it as a PNG file.
I do my designs on AdobeDraw on iPad, and have an app to remove the white so it can be uploaded correctly, but this is easily done on a computer too.

Could you sell on ebay as well as tee public? Thats my plan (when I get round to it) - design then upload to Inkthreadable mock up then list on ebay. But you will need to list item location as to where the item is dispatched. Someone on the Inkthreadble facebook hub had his ebay account suspended because the tracking info showed a different dispatch location than his registerd ebay address.
Worth joining the Inkthreadble facebook hub even if you dont use them just yet.
If its useful to anyone, Ive heard of a mock up site called Placeit where your designs are placed onto models rather than just an t shirt templates. Theres a fee though so maybe something to consider in the future
