Hello all!

This is my very first post on this site, although I have been lurking in the shadows for a while now.

I have been inspired by everyone's attempts to earn some extra money so I am now giving it a go myself!

I won't be doing survey sites, or matched betting or even mystery shopping. My target is to use my skills as a freelancer to earn some extra money each month.

I have been writing on and off for several years now and have made some decent money in the past from selling my services online. My goal is to make at least £300 a month from my writing.

I will be using sites such as Fiverr and PeoplePerHour to make this goal a reality. I have already started putting up some offers on these sites, just waiting to hear back!

I'm using this diary to keep me motivated and hopefully motivate others to do the same.

As I am totally brand new to this site, I would appreciate any tips and advice on how to make the most from this site and even how I could leverage my writing skills to earn more each month.

I hope you do better with PPH than fiverr as the latter just tends to be a race to the bottom sadly

Might also be worth you looking at fivesquid if this is the way you are going

Never heard of fivesquid, I'll give it a look, thanks!

I'm hoping that I'll get a few jobs on these sites to get me started - my long-term goal is to find more prolific work but these will do to get me going :)

Just a quick update, it's only been a few days but my oh my have I got a story.

I am still awaiting to get my first client - I have been put on a few people's list for future work, so I guess that's a positive.

On a negative note, for anyone looking to join freelancer.com - don't do it!! I can't stress that enough. I am fully aware that content mills aren't the best place to get writing work, however I gave it a try to see what would happen. NEVER AGAIN.

I was asked to make a fully functioning website for less than £30 and then got propositioned by a scammer looking to offer me thousands of $ each month - no thanks!

So moral of the story is, don't use that website for writing work.

I am still adding new listings on PPH, Fiverr and Fivesquid - hopefully I will get something soon!

right ok, do you have a blog at all to use as a 'showreel' for your writing quality?

I have niche websites however I don't have a blog for my freelance writing as of yet. I'm working on it though, should have it up and running some time next week.

Another quick update -

2 orders on Fiverr completed for February taking me up to $20
1 order on PPH - $90

also, on the flip-side of writing, I completed two RedWigWam jobs today so that's another £14

Not a bad start.

It's been a while since I last updated my diary.

So for February in total I have earned:

$24 on Fiverr - I've had loads of messages, just not many following through on orders
$90 on PPH - It's a new month which means more credits to bid on projects. I will try and be more selective this time and apply for jobs that will be worth my time.

Total: $114

Not a bad start however I would like to be more focused this month on getting this target to at least $200.

Here is my plan: (I need this to keep me motivated!)

  1. Update my Fiverr gigs, include professional videos to get more traction
  2. Selectively bid on PPH projects
  3. Cold email websites in an attempt to get more writing work

As I said I would like to earn $200/£200 in march
then £300 in april
£400 in may
and so on ...

here goes!

So we are pretty much a week into March so here is another update.

Fiverr has been good to me with many people ordering my services. So far in march I have earned £39.13 taking my total on Fiverr up to £55.29 - Not too bad!

Peopleperhour is slow however I will keep trying to win contracts here.

Also, I have literally just received my first order from fivesquid so that's another £5 in the pot

So my total earnings in 2019 so far are: £129.29

You’re carving up quite the niche for yourself there!

Might be able to book you in for some work over the coming weeks as I need a block booking of content writing for somenting I’m working on

Another quick update on my money earnings!

So far in March I have earned:

£66.52 on Fiverr with another £72 worth of work underway as we speak (there are still some pending payments so this number could be higher)
I have also earned £10 on Fivesquid
Nothing for PPH this month, still need to make a push on this site.

Asides from that I have picked up some delivery runs for JustEat - giving me another £172 for March.

March Total:

£248.52 with another £72 to come.

Not bad!

Hey StevenP15! I've noticed you have not posted any updates on your freelance writing since May. How's the rest of the year been going for you in terms of saving money? I could use a bit of inspiration at the moment aha
