Hi there. Just wondering if anyone made any mistakes or had any problems/money losses or bad experiences with it?

Don't get me wrong it seems great!. I'm a little nervous about jumping in, and making mistakes.
I've looked at the videos on profit accumulator and get the basic idea but felt quite overwhelmed.

Has anyone messed up with it and lost money?
Don't want to be doom and gloom - just want to hear both sides.

Thanks
Nate :)

Everyone has made mistake with it

you learn not to worry about it because if you make a mistake and lose say £20 you will make another £60 before the end of the weekend so whatever you lose is dwarfed by the thousands you make:)

lol

honestly. I wouldn't worry about making mistakes and instead just accept that it will happen at some point and that's OK.

Companies like Profit Accumulator / OddsMonkey all offer telephone numbers you can contact them on if you get stuck and need some instant help!!

Lots of people have lost money. Thankfully people have stopped promoting MB as 'Risk Free' as it did have risk and you can even see in this forum's MB page that people are laying when they mean to bet, or the market is too fluid to put a bet at the required amount.

Your best bet is to join Profit Accumulator or oddsmonkey or whoever and get advice from them. They have good forums and are able to support really well for your £20 a month (or whatever it costs).

On the plus side, I've messed up and MADE money! Its not impossible so it isn't all doom and gloom.

The one thing I would say is

1) Take your time and only do MB when you are in the right head-space and things are making sense. If they don't make sense, stop.

Mistakes generally happen when you rush. Slow and steady gets the breakfast ready.

:)

Thanks,

The Reverend

I do a lot of in-play bets, which are recommended to do at half time when the odds stabilise. However I've been doing them for a few years now so do them when they're actually playing. This is a bit risky but usually just means a higher qualifying loss than you wanted. Once I decided to do my £50 QL on the under 2.5 market, only to see a goal scored before I could lay and hence I lost £50. I was gutted, even though my then earnings were already around the £2k mark.

I've also lost £100 on something which I'm not sure about, except that it's recorded in my spreadsheet as 'big fucking mistake'. Other mistakes have been smaller, maybe incurring a qualifying loss that barely makes the free bet worth it, but they're usually because I'm rushing or distracted.

On the plus side, I've been doing MBing for nearly 4 years and I've made £10k to date. It's been a steady accumulation, with slight fluctuations.

And as The Reverend said, I've also made happy mistakes. When I was deep in accumulator offers I forgot to lay legs a couple of times and that worked more to my advantage than not. Not a risk I like to take though.

At the beginning I double checked, triple checked, and had sweaty palms clicking on the 'place bet' button. It's good to feel nervous though.
Mistakes and losses generally come from getting cocky, waiting to lay (in the hope odds will drop), or trying to get on horses right at the off.

As a beginner, take your time, get the bet set on both sides before placing then double check the figures match what it says in the calculator. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature

I've not lost a lot but bits here and there as odds have changed and I had not known what to do. I still don;t feel ready to do accumulators but may try at half term as I will have time to read up on it more.

Made loads of silly errors - mostly related to not laying at the exchange straight away, e.g.:

a). Lost nearly £90 by falling asleep and forgetting to sequentially lay the second leg of a darts multiple.
b). layed the wrong horse name in a Cheltenham race.
c). Lost mobile phone signal just before kick-off and couldn't lay.

and so on.

What did I do? beat mysefl up for a bit, took a short break and vowed to not mess around and try to be too 'clever'. Made thousands since.

Just made one today - didn't lay a Man Utd bet. I'd won on spins and made something on the Liverpool result but am about £3 up rather than £23

Best thing is probably to ask on here or PA or OM (time permitting) if you are unsure about a bet as it is far easier to stop a potential mistake than to try and find how to fix it (especially when panicking because the match is starting, odds changing rapidly etc).

Like the Rev says, take it slow and steady until you get the hang of it and understand it more :)

I have had a few decent sized cock-ups! I was doing a casino offer, it was something like wager £20 and get 20 free spins, I had a decent balance with the casino and opened up the slot and began to spin.....after about 12 spins i suddenly ran out of money and realised i had it set to £5 spins! I only made about £1.50 from the free spins ‍

But mistakes just made me really pay attention to what i was doing and not rush stuff. The in-play bets can be a bit nervy but i only bet in-play at half time in football now so there's no chance of a goal etc.

Don't be hard on yourself with mistakes tho. They are bound to happen and you just have to move on to the next offer. In the long run you will be making a big chunk of cheddar!

I also had a few really lucky mistakes that paid off too!
Forgot to lay an acca which won about £100!
baked one team and layed a different team in a completely different match....which both won!
sometimes you get lucky with them too.

Like most people I've made silly mistakes, sometimes it has gone in my favour and other times not, but overall what I have lost has been a pittance compared to my overall profit.

Here are some things I wish someone had told me before I started:

1. Take your time. Never do offers if you are in a rush or tired, especially when first starting out.
2. Avoid in play offers until you are confident. You will need to be quicker at placing in play bets as the odds can change quickly - eventually you will be able to do this no problem, but don't put yourself under that pressure until you are ready
3. Others might not agree with this one, but I would avoid horses at first and concentrate on football. There is more that can go wrong when betting on horses (your horse could be a non runner for example), these things are usually correctable but again, get confident with the general process first
4. Always check there is enough liquidity in the exchange to lay your bet BEFORE you place your back bet. This would have saved me a lot of stress when I started :)
5. Familiarise yourself with the process of how to correct it if a lay bet is only partially matched. If there is plenty of liquidity in the market and its a pre-match bet then you shouldn't have a problem with this, but when you branch out into in play offers this can happen. Its easily corrected and the have a calculator for it on PA, but having some advanced knowledge can prevent a mass panic (when more mistakes could occur)
6. Finally, when you branch out into casino offers ALWAYS check the spin amount before you start spinning!

I can honestly say I haven't had any major disasters and I don't know anyone who has. Like with anything, you will probably make the odd mistake but what you make in the long run will far, far outweigh anything you lose.

Thought this was going to be a funny list of goof ups, early on whilst my wife was still in cant believe it works mode I did a bethard offer that I backed on bethard then backed on betfair instead of lay due to it being very late at night and a lapse of concentration. Got slapped around by wife for that one "told you it was dodgy"

Lesson learned never do it when tired

And did a bunch of advantage plays during footie world cup broke even with free bets but would have been better had I laid them. But the pain of every football certainty not happening, I mean England semi-finals sums it up really :)

Lesson learned there are no certainties (counts for first mistake as well that was on real madrid, they lost)

However did have one good mistake was doing a casino offer using diamond mine, I left game and went back in 5 mins later didn't remember to reset bet to 20p so did 25 £2 spins won £200

It all balances out over time.

Everyone has made a mistake in matched betting, that's how you know what works and what doesn't.
