Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of matched betting from outside the UK please?

I spend quite a lot of time out of the UK and so far have done all my sign-up's using a VPN without any difficulties. I know that there are some Bookies who block VPN's and I'll probably do those sign-up's in the UK.

However, I'm finding that where some sites use third parties to provide their add-on's e.g. bingo or casino, I can't get that part of the site to load and I'm not sure if it's because the VPN is blocked by the 3rd party, or if I don't have enough bandwidth for the games.

This afternoon, I tried to use my free spins at one Bookie and kept getting an error message to check my internet connection. In the end, I decided to risk it and signed in without using the VPN. The game still didn't load but when I switched my TV off, which is also coming over the internet, the game loaded and I was able to play. I should really have done it the other way round and switched the TV off first!

Now I'm in a dilemma because if I can use that site without a VPN then that would make life a lot easier but I'm worried that their daily reports will show up my IP address as outside the UK and then I'll get blocked.

If there's anyone out there that has experience of MBing from outside the UK, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on how to approach it going forward please.

Thankyou

Jon

Hi [member=4201]popadop[/member]

I live outside of the UK for most of the year and use a VPN for every site. I know there are some out there that allow betting from the country I live in, but I'd rather keep it all on a UK IP address as I know that some offers are exclusive to certain countries. Also my registered address is in the UK as is my registered bank account - for me these are still my official address and bank account as I do spend some of the year in the UK and have official dual-residence in both countries I live in. If you live as a registered citizen in your country outside of the UK and are using incorrect address details for a UK address that you are not officially registered to then you may be crossing lines of legality that you need to find info on elsewhere. I'm not going to go down that path right now as I don't know the ins and outs - it's not my area!

I haven't had any problems, apart from one or two bookies (Lads and 888sport) sometimes don't load very well. 888sport can take a while to load their sports section and Lads casino either won't load or are extremely slow. If I use my phone or tablet (also using a VPN) then they are fine, so I guess those problems for me and probably the issues you had as well are to do with internet speeds perhaps. Happens to me sometimes when I try to use BBCiplayer on my laptop too, so again I defer to my tablet and it's good again.

So, TLDR; I use a VPN and haven't had any issues with any bookies so far!

[member=2431]Uhhhhh[/member] thanks for that, very useful info. My situation sounds similar to yours in terms of dual-residency. I spend time in both countries but my primary residence is the UK so address and bank are all legit.

I'll stay on the VPN for now and check the other bookies whilst I don't have anything else running to see if it's a bandwidth problem.

Thanks again.

[member=4201]popadop[/member] No problem!

I use SaferVPN and have found it very consistent, and one account is okay to use on several devices.

Where is it that you're living, out of interest?

[member=2431]Uhhhhh[/member] I'm in Greece, sweltering in 40 degree heat today, how about you?

I'm using a free VPN at the moment, it's stable but a bit slow, and recycles periodically during the day. I know the recycling times now so can work around it but it was a bit annoying at first. I'll have a look at SaferVPN, I haven't heard of it.

[member=4201]popadop[/member] Hungary, where it is currently peeeeing it down.

I think I paid about £38 for the year and it covers all of my devices. Apart from the slight inconvenience of having to use Lads casino on my tablet and occasionally 888sport on my phone, it's pretty great and I've had no major issue with it. Means I can continue my tradition of watching Homes under the Hammer whilst I work out in the morning ;D ;D

[member=2431]Uhhhhh[/member] , I watch homes under the hammer too and bargain hunt. I use film on for most of the tv which doesn't need a VPN. I'll look into SaferVPN though, if it's stable it might be worth paying for. Thanks.
