Morning all,

This could be a silly question but I don't know the answer so have to ask! I have a free bet that needs to used in 7days but on Betfred there are no football matches until the 30/31st. So I am thinking of horses. Is it the same as football? I have watched the videos on PA with all the lengths and non runners and all those rules, but it's not telling me what I need whihc tells me it could be a stupid question, but here is it lol what exactly am I betting on!? A horse to win for example, can't they come 3rd, 4th etc not just a win or lose like a football match?

Three main choices with betting on horses.

1. Bet to win
2. Bet for the horse to place
3. Bet each way. This places your bet on the win AND on the place.

The easiest and recommended option for new matched betters is to concentrate only on the Win market and back a horse to Win, then lay the same horse on the exchange.

Dont worry about the place or EW markets for now.

P.s For info There are European Cup qualifiers this week, so you could bet on those if you feel more comfortable with football. England are playing the Czech republic on Friday.

Thank you for the info. So if I bet on the horse to win, my lay bet will literally be that he doesn't win, no regards for places etc? I assumed thete must be some football this week but on Oddmatcher tool if when I put Betfred in there are no matches until end of the month that could be my filters though I assume. There will be as there are a load of international matches on this weekend which you will be able to use the free bet on

hi with horses you are either betting on them to win. or you could bwt each way. each way means you put a bet on for the win and get those odds if it wins but you also cover it with the same amount if your horse comes in 2nd or 3rd or 4th sometimes you get paid as well

Hiya, Right OK, I think I follow you, I have never bet on a horse in my life and the lingo confuses me, thanks for the info, it's really helpful.
