Hi Shedders,

Could anyone advise me how to renew my Microsoft Office software please as cost effectively as possible?
I have never paid for this before and don't really want to start now. The software I have been using is from university and it has just ran out.

I want to keep my primary laptop Microsoft and I think I will try Libre on my secondary laptop and see how that goes.

Thanks.

p.s. Don't tell me to buy a Mac ;)

I swear we hit this problem every year. The wife has a subscription for Office365 that comes around every year and we ALWAYS forget about it. I think we just pay the renewal price but if you are wanting to cancel and then buy a new licnese Amazon still do it for £49 for up to 6 users which is actually cheaper than a 1 user license lol

Or you could download LibreOffice complete free and use that instead? Exactly like MS Word, you can save the document as Word documents and open it up on a machine that has MS Word installed.

I think what I will do is install Libre on my secondary laptop first and have a play with it there and see how I get on. If I like it I will install it on my main laptop.

Is open Office still a thing? Do people use that? What about Google Docs / Sheets etc. I've seen crazy stuff done with that in commercial workplaces and the whole thing is free lol

Good point @Jon, I will venture into the Google-verse and see what lies therein.

That is another good tool to use, completely free and you can rollback the document to previous versions as well.

Hi @jimmy619, thanks for the offer but I shall have to decline. Maybe someone else on here will take you up on it. I downloaded Libre Office over the weekend and I am loving it.

Wow, just wow :D
I am now a total convert. Why didn't I do this before??

I tentatively installed Libre Office on my secondary laptop and within ten minutes it was on my main laptop too.

Libre Office for the win :p

Well it's free to install and use. It is basically Microsoft Office without the expense.
There is a community side to it as well as a global educational side if you are into that sort of thing.

It does all the usual things, Word and Excel, and lots more that I don't use.
I still have lots to learn about it but I really like it so far.
