It's not the norm for me, though I'd like it to be! It's the rollover from the end of the previous month, plus a private client made a payment.
I think proofreading's tricky to get into, though there's clearly a vast need for it. I'm not making enough to call it a full-time income.

@Jayro152, @Knopfler, @georginauk, @Petlamb, @ZZZ, @maisiemog, @jellyfox: TextRanch got back to me. I was told that they're wanting to keep the workflow balanced for the current pool of editors they have and that as more work comes in, they'll gradually let more editors into the fold.

This is such a great thread - I am following along with interest! Thanks so much for sharing, it's really great to see what can be achieved. I'm also waiting to hear from textranch...fingers crossed they allow new editors soon as I can't to get proofreading!
