Yep it's the age old question. I have been blogging since February and ideally I would like to make some money from my blog, although I absolutely love writing so content is really important to me too (meaning that I am not just thinking about the money here).

I have read loads and loads of articles about monetizing your blog and I was wondering as more established bloggers, what you would recommend? A lot of the articles I read are either written by Americans or geared towards the American market and thinking about how hard it was for The Beatles to crack America, I am definitely not there yet!

For a UK blogger what works best? My blog is not in any particular niche, I see it as a lifestyle blog which touches on parenthood, life in general and a teeny bit of interiors. I'm also really into mindfulness and positive living.

I am self hosted and am still refining my blog (currently have a snagging list of things that need to be done)

I do some content writing and ideally I would like to incorporate my services into my website so that people could find me there.

Obviously if there is a thread that says what I have just said word for word, feel free to tell me to sod off ;D and find my own bloody info!

Hey [member=1786]Julesfh2012[/member]

As if we on TMS would tell ya to sod off and find your own info!!!!!

Earning money from your blog is very very very simple

It's so simple intact that on Monday the 5th Sept the first of a three part series will be going up on the blog taking you from your first step of setting up a blog all the way through to earning money from it.

In a nutshell for YOU with your lifestyle blog it is very easy to earn money

Write content > get more readers > Expose the readers to affiliate links

there is a beginners guide to affiliate marketing here
http://blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/affiliate-marketing-part-1/

Basically you just sign up to companies like Amazon Affiliates / Affiliate Window / Skimlinks etc.

You write content > People click on your links > you make money

the OTHER way to easily earn money is via Sponsored Posts

Again this will be covered in the guide that's going up on the 5th but Sponsored Posts are when companies PA YOU to feature their product or website.

sometimes they can involve you writing say 500 words about them and other times they write the content for you and you just copy and paste it to your blog.

Either way you get paid!

it's really not rocket socket it's just a case of building an audience and then showing that audience things they might be interested in

If you have any other questions just ask, honestly myself, [member=920]katykicker[/member] and [member=277]Chammy[/member] are all happy to help get you earning some big bucks from your Blog!!!

Sponsored posts are a big area for me. Today I've picked up a £75 post, a £50 post and a set of £165 swimming lessons for my daughter and I to enjoy!

I love blogging and I find that the 'UK Bloggers' Facebook group and the 'UK Parent Bloggers' (If that applies - sorry I've got a bad memory) Facebook pages have helped me find work and review ops and then more companies can seek me out that way.

[member=1]Jon[/member] I agree, I just feel at a loss at times. My biggest follower base on Twitter is on my own language and my blog isn't so I couldn't utilize my followers to be fair !

[member=1786]Julesfh2012[/member] Good luck , follow Katykicker's and Jon's advice, they know what they are doing :p

Add the "Google Website Translator by Prisna.net" to your blog, it's a widget that lets you select a language and it translates the website for you. I have it on my Jamberry blog because we're launching in Mexico soon and thought it was easier than having multiple pages with the same info in different languages :D

[member=920]katykicker[/member], is £50 to £75 pretty typical for what you can earn from doing reviews on your blog? How about guest blogging?

You don't earn anything for guest blogging you do it for free to get exposure

£50 & £75 are low in terms of sponsored post fees, but they are reviews so I am also getting products which I'd usually just write about for free.

Most fees are 3 figures now my blog is more established.

Guest posting is where you post on someone else's blog for them to give a link back to you, in the hope that this boosts traffic and helps you with domain authority/possible google rankings for your website etc.
