So a few days in things are going well, the best bit was Openreach actually coming at a reasonable time this morning so I now have internet at home again. I have lucked on my data on my phone but it renews on Saturday so will have to hold off Roamler until then.

Anyway a few questions.

I had a look on trustPilot and their reviews of YouGov and OnePoll were not great, YouGov was particularly bad. Is this just sour people posting and the ones that have done alright just keep quiet. Also has anyone actually won on the monthly draw, before I go wasting points on that?!

Prolific seems to be going ok, I did a weird essay task yesterday. On the green site they commented on how disturbing it was and the questions set it up like that but the text I got was about watching a cookery programme on TV and how did that make me feel, then showed me a whole load of the same shapes, one just as it was and one with a box around and asked me to pick which one I preferred. I don't mind if I get paid for it! But it did seem strange that I saw something different to others.

Now I have my internet sorted I will be signing up to whatusersdo and complete my assessments on clickworker.

I also plan to join up to Lionbridge or the other one, would having a Science degree help my success in getting decent paid work?

ironically online work is one of the most level playing fields around in terms of anyone being able to apply and do anything.

YouGov, I've used for years. I did win a free cut and blow dry in the prize draw once, but I don't 'buy' entries, as I prefer guaranteed cash over the possibility of winning something. The hair cut was from a survey that paid in points only. Survey wise, they've always paid out and the plus is that they don't screen out on surveys.

OnePoll, I have been paid out many times over the years without any trouble. The polls do tend to dry up just when you are 5p short of a payout, but they do re-appear after a few days.

In terms of bad reviews. One poll gets bad reviews because it has a high cashout threshold of £40 and once you get within a few pence of the £40 cashout surveys dry up. However, if you use the referral system to refer another email address/user you get £1 which will push you over the £40.

Yougov gets bad reviews because it has a £50 minimum cashout which it takes a while to get to. But they're good and consistent payers so no worries on that front.

So basically don't let the bad feedback put you off.

You gov is an honest site but they don't have a lot of work. I think you do a bit better if you are a teacher or own your own business. There are better paying survey sites that seem to have more clients. I tend to prefer sites with a lower payment threshhold so you can see the money more regularly. Prolific academic has a payment threshold of £5.00 with a charge and Qmee lets you withdraw any amount. Populus live has been good to me this week. I have had surveys for £3.00 and £4.00.

I think the review sites have a lot of unrealistic expectations about the survey sites. As others have said YouGov is slow but reliable and no screen outs. I’ve been a member for a few years and probably cash out every 10 months. I won 200 points in the draw last month, first win. You get entries anyway for some surveys, personally I wouldn’t bother buying more entries.

You can make £1 a day on one poll if you check the site every few hours for new surveys. I've cashed out several times @ £40, never had surveys dry up near to cash out.

Also they have changed the cash out to £25 once you have cashed out once @ £40 so you could make this every 5/6 weeks if you check the site regularly during working hours.

Payment is slow however after cash out, usually 3/4 weeks in my experience.

I have been with both yougov and onepoll for over or 4 years now and never had an issue with them. Both can take a while to reach payout, yougov I get 4 -6 surveys a month and make £150 a year. (I do get some invites for my teen daughter which pay more)
Onepoll take longer as they are quick surveys for less money, but because they are quick I find them worth doing.
Viewspanel is good too, daily poll weekday pays 10p and takes 2 seconds, I have had 10 minute surveys which paid £2.50

Interesting.
Tonight I have mainly been abusing my new internet (honestly after 3 months on data alone it is great, even if I do have access all day at work but I have to be careful what I am doing there for obvious reasons).
Have signed up to Appen, Liongate and Leapforce, so that's just a case of waiting. Completed some assessments on Clickworker. Tried and failed to get swagbucks working for me, I just don't seem to get on with that at all. Signed up to testable minds and downloaded the apps on my phone ready for when I get my data renewal. Just need to finish off my whatusersdo video test then that is good to go.
I am surprised as I have doubled my total from the weekend just today and that is without doing much. I guess patience about the cashing out amounts and just tipping away are going to be the way forward. Thanks for all your replies on my posts.

I tend to just focus on the surveys on swagbucks myself and generally only the featured ones as they tend to be higher paying. Gets me a fiver a month. Can't be bothered with all the clickbait etc on it.

The one poll cash out threshold went down to £25 a few weeks ago!

My cashout is £30, just got £12.25 left and I reckon that will take to the end of June.
