I've decided to start a blog on thrifty meals and shopping as I love both food and saving money.
The only post I have at the minute is a welcoming post but I am half way through a post on 10 ways to save money on your food shop.

I appreciate any feedback that people can give me.

My blog is www.thriftydishes.com

Can't believe that domain was available!!!

You build some good content and get a good audience reach and I think you will go far with this blog!!

Assuming you're still up and running in a couple of months time (Hope so!) I'm looking to blog about some thrifty bloggers - so get working on your content and I'll give you a backlink to help with your Domain Authority (look it up!) later in the year! :)

Just published my first proper post - if anyone has any advice please let me know.

I'm using Yoast, and have got green for both readability and SEO. Quick question, what does this mean "The images on this page do not have alt attributes containing the focus keyword"

Go into the image on Wordpress and on the right hand side you will see a lot of attributes you can change

One of them is called "alternative text" or something, just shove your keyword in there and save and it should go green

Thank you, I've done that now.

Do you have any advice or comments on my first blog post?

Thanks Katykicker - I'll make sure to keep working on my content and hopefully you'll like it enough to help me with a backlink :)

More of a question I have but is there a rule in the blogging world for using photos from Google etc ?

Apart from that, just format wise, spacing between paragraphs don't seem to be equal. Nice post !

I used freeimages.com to get the photos - I think I've done it correctly with regard to copyright.
I'll double check the spacing, I may have messed it up my accident when trying to fix them photos.

Thanks for the comments :D

Yes actually the reason I asked about the photos was that I haven't got a clue! I have a mini blog that I don't write and have my own photos posted there but thought myself before what I'd need to do if I wanted to use something from internet. Hope you didn't mind me asking :)

Anyway good luck with your blog !

If you look at part 2 of the blogging toolkit on the blog I recommend getting free images from pixabay

You can't just use Google images, I see people doing it all the time but ultimately they'll be copyrighted to someone.

Is there a way to make images smaller for my featured image?

I feel like when you view the post that it takes up a lot of room on the page. I've tried changing the scale but it doesn't help

That photos on that chicken meal is excellent!!!

You clearly have a good eye for 'food porn' as they call it 'in the trade'

Keep at it!!
