We save £2 coins but just use them for small treats like takeaways, rather than saving for something bigger. I used to save smaller change until I had about £10, then take it to the bank and change it for paper money and treat myself to a CD.

I like this idea. I don't really carry cash though as I find I spend it easier that way so it might take me a while!

I currently have 2 coin savings tins, one is for £1 and £2's and the other for 50ps. I deffo need to invest in one that you can't open however because I do find myself dipping into them from time to time, for milk.etc.

i have a big big jar and i only save 5'ps, i know its not much and may seem ridiculous even to bother with, but surprisingly the jar is quite full and very heavy so i think there maybe a good couple of hundred pound in there, my husband keeps asking me what are we saving them, for a rainy day i say, and his reply is well it will have to be a monsoon then, and i say with english weather you never know.

We have a large Coca Cola bottle in our lounge to collect everything barring £2 coins, just put spare coins in there and if my wallet or her purse is too full of coins we empty them in.

We share our money then assign 'pocket' money each per month, what I tend to do is save the £2's up until I have a months worth of spending and then use this as my cash and chuck my 'pocket' money into a savings account. So far it's bought me a whiteboard which I'd wanted for years but never thought I could justify the spend.

I have a jar at home that I put money in but it's a clear glass jar - sometimes I wonder if that isn't such a good idea as it tempts me to take money out when I'm strapped for cash!

I took one of those sealed tins up to Coinstar last night (we were that desperate lol) and 1p, 2p, 5p, and some silver gave me £22. That has been since January. I deliberatley didn't save £1 or 50ps as it would have been open before now!

It is surprising how the 1p's, 2p's and 5p's add up. We do the same.
The bigger the value the more likely I would take it and have used it by now whereas the small change is just weight to get rid of and you don't notice how much you have saved either. Surprising how much it adds up.

Oooh you must have been desperate, they take a ridiculous amount :(

I put all my 1ps, 2ps, 5ps, 10ps, 20ps and 50ps in my tub, it's supposed to count it up itself but it constantly counts wrong (good job I enjoy counting :) )
Occasionally I'll even pop some gold coins in there too :)

We have a terramundy that was given to us a long time ago (years!) and have been slowly filling it up with £2 coins- it says it can hold £400 in gold coins so we hope to use the money towards a holiday when full :)

I rarely get £2 coins but I do try to save any change as much as I can. Although nowadays I tend to give them to charity or homeless more.

I prefer to save the pennies. I rarely get any £2 coins and the pennies do add up quickly. Less weight to carry around. [emoji4]

This sounds great. I must start doing this! I used to do it with £1 coins. Hopefully I'll make it past a tenner this time!

I might start doing this, due to my job I get a lot of change but have never thought of doing this. I have a quick question though, What do you do with the £1000 worth of £2 coins that you have at the end of the year? I swap my change for notes :)

I do similar but with 20p coins.
I like the £2 idea, but I hardly ever use cash for anything so I never have any. struggling to think of the last time I even had one! Also I'm far less likely to raid the jar for 20p.

Well done for sticking to it!

What to do with all those coins...One tip is never use one of the change up machines in the supermarkets. The percentage they charge is ridiculous. Better to change it every so often at your bank, or even better pay it in then you're not tempted to spend it

I need to do this! My partner and I have just started doing this with coppers, but it's also going to be worth doing for £2 coins if I ever get them! Hehe.
