I started my blog in January and was wondering how all the other new bloggers were getting on. I have struggled with some technical aspects and still playing around with it now. I've enjoyed the writing side though and have managed to do at least one post a week. I also wasn't on twitter so have had to learn that too!

How is everyone else fairing? Do you get much traffic? Asked my husband yesterday and even he doesn't read mine! I managed just over 700 visitors for feb. I've just installed Yoast after using the All in one SEO so will see if that's better/worse. I went for the host presto hosting which has worked well.

3 months isn't a long time to be fair. 6 months is where you should start seeing an upturn.

What are you doing about social media promotion and chatty and talking to people within the demographic you are going after?

I know its a bit of a long process so was pleased with February although march has slowed again. I'm following lots of people on twitter with similar interests/blogs and interacting which has been way more enjoyable than I thought (don't want to make you jealous but I have a whole 28 followers now :D. ) I have a facebook page but don't do heaps with it to be honest. I think in the gardening/green living area lots of people use Instagram so need to get my head around that one too I think. Just trying to build things up bit by bit.

yeah i'd agree. FB is just somewhere I cross promote my posts but it's Twitter and IG where the real meat is in terms of interacting and getting clickthroughs!

You'll get there, keep writing good content, SEO it, promote it and the eyeballs will come!

I like the look of your blog and I am sure a lot of people will be interested in the subject matter. Do you show comments? I find it helps if people can see other people who follow you and that you interact with them. I also looked for linkups to join. I am older and aiming for an older readership who are not big social media users. I imagine if you can find a green living forum that allows links to blog posts that would be a good way to go. Are you planning to allow advertising in the future?

Hi
thanks for having a look. I do allow comments but have only had one non-spam one (from another moneyshed user!) That's a good idea about forums, I'll have a look. I have found twitter really useful for finding like minded people and you can put a website on your profile - I have looked at other people's websites from this so hopefully as I get more followers this will help. I haven't put any advertising on site yet as I'm trying to improve the design at the moment and some advertisers stipulate you need to have been active for six months I didn't think I would lose much by waiting til then.

700 visits a month is a great start.

Build it and they will come.

Hi guys, 3 months in. Seeing a little traffic and recently my Da and Pa increased so that's good. Just getting my head around email sign-ups as well as getting all my articles in order with regards to SEO. Learning new stuff all the time.

I started in January too :) I only get about 300 page views a month, so I need to work out how to build that up a bit! I've just recently started doing a lot more on twitter and seem to get a few new followers a day, so fingers crossed.

This blogging thing is a massive learning curve!

I've been at it for about a year now and I haven't anywhere near that many views so you're doing well!

Ok so the obvious question is - What are you doing to up the views?

to do list:
Learn google analytics
promote my blog
try and sort my posts that are squished
Check out all the registered users of my site and cull where necessary

This is the plan between now and September, wish me luck.

Lay down in a darkened room and hope it all goes away!!

Anyone able to help me with twitter, it's the one platform I find a right pain, don't know why though. Just doesn't seem to flow, or have any coherence, or is that just me?

What is it specifically you are wanting to get into with Twitter. In a nutshell you will just use the platform for chatting to other users and promoting your blog posts.

If it's the Twitter website you are saying isn't 'flowing' for you then you may do better using TweetDeck

Not really sure, I tend not to use it to engage with my followers, I find Instagram better for that and a lot easier to use. I have a presence on twitter, but I only post via blog2social from my blog when I post, nothing
