Hi, I also applied for this last week and received the log-in details this morning. I was able to log in ok and download the guidelines at about 9.30 this morning, so hopefully it gets sorted for you soon.

I have been told the error is mine - am trying to uninstall IE 10 on new Windows 8 laptop so I can reinstall version 8 - am tearing my hair out.

It's all so frustrating isn't it! I think I can just revert to an earlier version of IE on my old laptop as it is running IE 11 - but I haven't tried that yet.

I had an email overnight from Samantha to say they can't use my Live ID as it is already in use on "another project". I signed up to Lionbridge as a crowdworker earlier this year but the timing was all wrong so I didn't go ahead with it.

Anyway, Samantha asked me to set up a new Live ID which I've done and sent back. Fingers crossed I can join the project along with the rest of you - but maybe I'll have to wait for the next training batch now

my lovely shiny new Windows 8 laptop will not allow me to uninstall IE, nor can I return to an earlier version. All I can do is disable it, which is as much use as a chocolate teapot.

That's a bummer

Is your laptop 8 or 8.1? My new one came with 8.1 installed and has since had the recent update that makes it more like Windows 7 - a vast improvement I have to say. I wanted to use it for this work but it's not looking good if they're saying 8.1 and anything above IE 10 is incompatible. And yet they want you to be using a newish laptop - how does that work then?!

Does it affect the warranty of a new laptop if you take the preinstalled version of Windows off and replace it with an older version? Assuming you have W7 available to install that is. Which I don't.

So if I changed the current Windows 8 to Windows 7 I can go back to an older version of IE?

No idea, wouldn't have thought so, I kept the Windows 8 media so i can always put it back to factory settings again

That I can't answer as I am not at home on my home laptop so I can't tell you which version is installed on stock Windows 7..

I am getting that error despite logging on using IE 10.
I am e-mailing them about it.

And I have tried logging in on an old machine with the older correct versions of IE and I still can't log in and get the same message.
