Before it gains any rankings in google, I am wondering if changing the name of my site is a viable idea. Submitted site maps today, thanks to help from Jon. I am thinking of changing the name as i want something a bit more relevant. Is that a viable idea or a complete ;no no never ever do that idea;
What i want to do is upgrade to the business hosting offer, change the name but keep all the content. If its an absolute pain in terms of redoing all the posts and layout etc again

So you want to

Buy new hosting
Buy new domain
Move existing site over so it’s sits under new domain

Yes all that should be fine for them to do :)

@Jon - seems its not that simple, this is the reply Ive received
We can offer this service, but it's a migration by our engineers which is £12.00 inc VAT. Emails can't be migrated.
The other option is we can simply change the domain on the Starter hosting to ownahotel.co.uk and apply the business payment to it. This way the files don't physically need to move. You will however need to update your wordpress install before hand and update all links on the site to use the new domain.
Let me know how you'd like to proceed.

Ok 2 questions

Who is your current host?

With your current hosting do they use cpanel?

yep, everything migrated no problem, Ive published a post on it this week, made a few changes here and there - all after the change over. Ive just messaged them back saying I thought the offer included free migration but as it was a kloudhost site anyway I thought it wouldnt be a problem
Just to run through this to make sure ive not missed anything, I want to
1 - change to the business package from starter package using the TMS offer
2 - use a new domain which was included in the cost
3 - move the published content (just ten posts) to the new domain

Right so you were a Kloudhost customer

You then Migrated over to HostPresto

And you've bought 'business' hosting and are trying to migrate internally within the HostPresto eco system

Right

From what you are saying you are asking them to move your website installation to a new domain by physically copying the contents, modifying the urls etc. And they are saying there is a £12.00 fee as it's an engineers time to do this manually as its web development services rather than web hosting.

If that makes sense...

oh ok yes that kind of makes sense. So if i just opened both packages in separate windows and copied and paste the content would that work?

Well yes, if you aren't asking them to do all the redirection work on every URL for you then it won't cost anything

Or you can pay the £12 for piece of mind if you don't feel confident doing it all yourself

'redirection work' to me translates as 'likely to result in huge ^^^^ up'. I'll go with the 12 quid lol
