Hi all!

Really like this website and look forward to chatting.

Name is Ben, 24 from Kent, UK. I'm on a career break and having my first mid-life crisis which I'm really enjoying. Living at home with parents and doing sporadic work. I'm entrepreneurial and know there is opportunity out there online to get by. Ever since growing up my family (including me) have struggled with money, mainly due to personal problems (relationships, personality problems etc) and I know how important money is to people and to me, especially to feel comfortable and stable.

I know realistically I'm going to embark on this journey as I don't like working for someone else and I don't like office environments as they can be quite horrible from personal experience. Plus I want to spend my time with people I like and doing the things I like.

The main question I have at the outlook is, how much of my time am I going to have to invest and what can I realistically expect to earn? I'm thinking that at the beginning I will have to invest a considerable amount of time to make a small income but once I'm well versed perhaps I can become efficient and start to make a good income (I'm thinking 500 quid a month as I've seen some people doing that?).

Be great to chat to people here and get to know some. Please do link up so we can chat about how we're getting on and make it fun.

Best wishes
Ben

Hi Ben,

Welcome on board!

Check out the Money Toolkit that @Jon has created as this could get you £700-£1000 a month.

For this you will need to invest some considerable time but you get a decent reward.

Although you’ll hear a lot of people talk about Match Betting, and recommend starting there, I’d suggest leaving that to fill in the gaps between the other items in the TMS working from home toolkit.

You’ll find it here.

I’m happy to answer any questions that you have.

:)

Many people seem to have a day job as well as doing this. It depends how much you want to make and how you will cope if things dry up for a while.

Hi Emily,

Welcome! :) What are your goals for what you want to achieve with this work? What are you re-selling out of interest? Best of luck in your venture! Have to say people here are super helpful and honest which is all you can really ask for!

Yep, I couldn't stand working for someone else and watching them "bully" their staff and push them around and not see people reach their full potential used to make me feel a bit depressed every day. The environment just sucked...!

Yeah, I have to say you can actually do this full-time if you're prepared to be frugal in your life and don't have too many financial commitments.

Hi Ben,

At the moment I buy clothes, shoes off facebook and from charity shops, give them at bit of a scrub and put them on ebay. Also if I see deals on skincare and higher end make up I sell that too. I've been thinking about buying other bits after watching various youtube channels but I think if I started buying toys and filling up the spare room my husband may try and kill me!

I currently work in retail in Kent because I left my job in the motortrade and decided to do something different until I decided what I was going to do. I really enjoy ebay and would like to be reselling full time in the long run..

Everyone in there forum has been so lovely

I think it's great if until you decide what you are going to do you can bide your time with the ebay money until you decide what it is you want to do in the longer term..

Hi Emily,

That's great, I really enjoy hearing how people find ways of making money online. I guess for the hours worked you probably earn a good wage as well.

Weirdly enough my mum works in Deal, kent for a quirky antique cafe and sells certain bits and pieces there and they make quite a serious mark up as some of these people love the shops quirky antiques. She only does it on the weekend but she's got very good now.

Hey guys. I'm not well enough to go out to work so looking for a part time job from home. Don't really understand matched betting and heard there is a risk.

Hi Doz

Welcome best of luck mate with your venture. I don’t think there are any risks with matched betting unless you are yourself a risk. If you can follow it to the book then you’ll reap rewards.

Best of luck

Ben

afternoon to all the new people! you are in the right place to earn some cash :D

my advice don't let it overwhelm you take small steps and don't signup to everything all at once, also setup a new email address to forward your online emails too.

Hi Emily
Nice to see other ebay sellers on here. I am retired and do not sell anything like as much as I used to, but you can (with effort) turn it into a full-time occupation. The key to buying and selling is KNOWLEDGE. I also buy from car boot sales, charity shops and anywhere else I can find bargains. There are lots of would-be dealers around since all the TV programmes, but I end up making more each week than most of them and I only deal in small items that can be sent by post or normal carrier. Clothes are a great seller (although returns can be a pain) and are easy to find in the numerous charity shops. I sell quite a few tools and to give you an example, today I purchased 10 leather working tools for 20p each that sell for between £10-20 EACH. KNOWLEDGE!
