Hi guys & gals,

I have been having a read, quite excited but struggling to get my head around the lay bet & liability. It may be that I haven't actually put a bet on at the mo, so I' haven't got all the info - i.e the total won on the slip.
I understand the qualifying bet and the loss is small.

Example - a football match tomorrow:
Bookmaker stake - £20 (Free bets)
Odds 7.50
Lay odds 8.20
Comm 5%
At 8.2 I lay £15.95 (is this what I have to put down?)
Liability £114.85
If bookies win my position is £15.15
If Exchange wins my position is £15.15

So my questions is, if the bookies wins & I lose the lay bet & liability, how am I up, if I've lost £130.00 (Lay & Liability)

I'm sure I am missing something in the tutorials.

I would like to get started, but I'm going away next Sun & money is really tight - though I could do with a bit more for hols!

Thanks for reading & any help will be approciated.

You lose the lay liability but that liability will go over to the bookie side to make up your winnings

Hi,

I have taken the plunge & placed my bets today!

By 7pm I'll know if I did it right!
Best of luck. One thing to remember is to always use the calculator in "SNR" mode when calculating free bets.

Hi,

Thanks for the comments! Feeling pleassed that i didn't mess up, but lost on the exchange so all my money is in Coral. When I withdraw, I take it it goes into my bank account via card, then I just deposit back into Betfair again?

Is it ok to leave a small balance with bookies?

You can but I would just withdraw everything from coral at this point as that is what a regular punter would do
